Petersburg Volunteer Fire, EMS, and SAR

We'd like to extend a huge shout out to our neighbors at the Wrangell Volunteer Fire Department for their strong work with this mornings fire in Wrangell. It's a Volunteer team that was up and moving when called upon at 3am. This is an example of dedication in a small town where there is no mutual aid. Great work WVFD!!!

Here's a great news story by our friends at KFSK talking about the new program EMS Coordinator Gilkey is working on with the Petersburg School District.

Five students are working toward earning their Emergency Trauma Technician certification. The course is built with communities like Petersburg in mind, and is a stepping stone toward an EMT certification for those who want to go further.

🚁 A Guardian Flight medevac aircraft is in town today as part of the community health fair!

Stop by between 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM to tour the aircraft, meet the crew, and learn how medevac teams provide lifesaving care across Southeast Alaska. This is a great opportunity to see the aircraft up close and hear firsthand how these critical transports work in our region.

Guardian Flight serves communities throughout SE Alaska every day, helping connect patients to the care they need.

⚠️ Note: Aircraft availability depends on weather and patient missions. If a transport request comes in, the crew will need to depart immediately.
