Good morning everyone. At 10am the drinking with lincoln 5k kicks off. View the attached race map so you can plan your route accordingly. During the race, the route will be closed for the safety of the runners on the course. We anticipate the route to be open by no later than noon. We appreciate your patience.

PFD presented a new Bluejay sign now installed at the front of the PORTA High School, with members of the Fire Department pictured alongside PORTA board members and administrators. The project was completed through the Petersburg Fire Department using funds obtained from an American Tower Foundation Grant. Ace Sign Company handled the installation, and Justice Graphics donated use of the Bluejay logo. The new sign now stands as a strong symbol of PORTA pride and community support.

Members of the Petersburg Fire Department spent the morning at Prelude Kids Center, teaching children about fire safety, prevention, and what to do in an emergency.

The kids had the chance to explore our fire trucks, see our gear up close, and learn how firefighters work to keep the community safe.

Presenting with the group were Deputy Chief Chris Henderson and Lt. Crystal Honkala, who helped guide the children through hands‑on demonstrations and safety lessons.

We appreciate Prelude Kids Center for inviting us and giving us the opportunity to connect with the next generation.

Members of the Petersburg Fire Department spent last night sharpening their skills with focused training on aerial operations and hose line advancement. Crews worked through real‑world scenarios to improve coordination, efficiency, and safety on the fireground.

The Petersburg Fire Department proudly congratulates the PORTA High School Class of 2026 on your achievements and the bright futures ahead of you. Your dedication and hard work have brought you to this milestone, and your community stands behind you.

We are also honored to recognize our three 2026 Fireman’s Fund Scholarship recipients:

• Mason Heubner
• Brody Landon

This scholarship is awarded to students who meet established requirements and plan to enter a field of service following high school or college. The Fireman’s Fund Scholarship was created by the members of PFD to support and encourage the next generation of service‑minded leaders.

Presenting the awards and pictured with the recipients are Lt. Crystal Honkala and Deputy Chief Chris Henderson.
