Arrowhead Day Camp!

Arrowhead Day Camp 2015 will be July 20-24, 2015.

Arrowhead Day Camp allows children to take a step back in time to learn about the life of a Civil War soldier. As soldiers, kids dress in uniform, perform marching drills, and create flags. As hands-on scientists, they pull on rubber boots to perform biological water tests in the stream and learn about archaeology in the trenches. They will also learn about birds of prey, build biospheres and learn about environmental science. Space is limited to 20 campers.

Good Morning..The City of Petersburg Department of Cultural Affairs, Arts, and Tourism will sponsor a two-week history camp, “Week of Wonder” (WOW), from June 22 until July 2, 2015; 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Rising 5th and 6th graders will learn about Petersburg’s rich and diverse history, culture, and architecture through inquiry-based exploration, various hands-on activities and field trips. Petersburg has partnered with FOLAR, Fort Lee, Petersburg Public Library, the City Museums, Historic Petersburg Foundation (HPF), the National Battlefield, and Willcox Watershed Conservancy. Each organization will have a day with the children to offer hands-on sessions and provide a healthy lunch.

The cost of the camp is $50.

Applicants will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The deadline to apply is May 30th!

Petersburg National Battlefield Education Division will be holding a Canoeing event on Saturday October 31, 2015 at the City Point Waterfront. We will be gathering at 205 Appomattox St. (across from the Hopewell library) starting at between 915-930 and the program will begin at 1000 for the morning session and 1130ish for the afternoon. Participants will need to sign a release, available at the event. This event is sponsored in conjunction with Urban Wilderness, Friends of the Lower Appomattox and the National Parks Conservation Association.
