Good afternoon PORTA Families,

We are excited to announce that PORTA will be offering a FREE Summer Grab-and-Go Meal Program for children in our community this summer!

Beginning Wednesday, June 24, 2026, meal pickup will be available each Wednesday from 4:00–6:00 PM at the PORTA High School main entrance.

Each registered child will receive:

7 days of breakfast meals
7 days of lunch meals
Two half-gallons of milk

This program is available at no cost to families and is designed to help ensure our students have access to nutritious meals throughout the summer.

Space is limited, and participation will be capped based on program capacity. To reserve your family's spot, please complete the registration form by Friday, June 19, 2026. Registration is required so we can prepare the appropriate number of meals each week.

This program is open to EVERYONE within our community/county, even if your children don't attend the PORTA Schools. Registration will be on a first come, first serve basis so register ASAP!

Register your children (ages 0 - 21 and enrolled in a school) for 7 days of free breakfasts and lunches. Distribution occurs every Wednesday from June 24th – August 6th. Deadline to apply: June 19th.

Check out this great local opportunity! This is for any PORTA student that needs a school or sports physical. The student does not need to be a Memorial patient; anyone can go. PORTA school nurses will be present at this event to gather paperwork and to help with any other needs. Get a physical, head next door for immunizations, and turn in paperwork to the school nurses all in a one stop shop. Mark your calendar for July 7-8 at Memorial Care in Petersburg!

That's a WRAP on the 2025-2026 school year at PORTA Central! We will miss all of our students over the summer, but none of them moreso than our 6th graders who are headed off to do AMAZING things at the Junior High next year!

The May Board meeting has been moved to May 28th due to 8th Grade Recognition scheduled for Thursday, May 21st.

To cap off a fun week at PORTA Central. Our students cashed in their MAP testing goal rewards by dunking staff members in a dunk tank. We are thrilled with our students results in their MAP testing this spring, and students were thrilled to get some staff members WET!

Congrats to our new Regional Champions, the Bass Team! They will be escorted around the square today on their way home from the tournament around 4:30 pm.
Our Bluejays made a strong showing, with Will Kerrigan and Logan Baker taking 3rd place and Jett and Tate Karrick taking 1st place. Way to go, anglers!

The annual Wax Museum at PORTA Central was another smashing success. Shout out to Mrs. Carter & the 6th grade teachers and students for an excellent afternoon with a variety of characters that were presented on!
