Upper Township Committee members honored first responders for life saving efforts that occurred within our community earlier this year. Within a span of 28 days, three cardiac arrests took place within the Township. In all three instances, quick response and intervention by our outstanding professional providers, along with the assistance of ALS professionals of AtlantiCare, our volunteer fire department partners, and telecommunicators of OCPD, led to return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) in the field, rapid transport to definitive care, and eventual discharge from the hospital.

This past week, Squad 21 has responded alongside our local volunteer fire departments on a number of fire related incidents. Two of these incidents, a residential structure fire and a report of elevated CO readings in a commercial structure, lead to extended on scene time by the fire department. On both occasions, the Rescue Squad has gone to the local Marmora Wawa for boxes of coffee and/or donuts for the firefighters. Also on both occasions, someone has stepped up and paid for these items or they were donated by the Wawa. We want to thank our community stakeholders for always supporting us in our efforts to serve. This is what makes Upper Township Unique 👍

Upper Township EMS is dedicated to continuous professional development. Recently, our very own Supervisor John Brittin graduated from a National Fire Academy (NFA) sponsored course called Management of Emergency Medical Services. This two week course was held at the National Emergency Training Center in Emmitsburg, MD. This interactive and fast-moving course was designed to enable participants to deal more effectively with day-to-day management issues that supervisory-level managers are likely to encounter. During these two weeks, Supervisor Brittin not only had the opportunity to learn from some of the best that NFA has to offer, but most importantly, he was able to spend a significant amount of time in group discussion with other students. These students consisted of EMS managers from across most of the country who all brought unique insight and experiences to issues discussed through out the entirety of the course.
