Building positive relationships with the children, families, and schools in our community is an important part of what we do.

Last week, our School Resource Officer, Master Patrolman Hyland, visited Pierce School in Bennington to participate in "Mystery Reader Day" with Ms. Besson's kindergarten class.

The students enjoyed story time with a special guest reader, and we’re pretty sure Master Patrolman Hyland had just as much fun as they did!

Opportunities like these help strengthen the bonds between our officers, schools, and the communities we serve. Thank you to Pierce School for inviting us to be part of such a wonderful program.

If you are an educator within the ConVal School District and would like Master Patrolman Hyland to visit your classroom and read to your students, please contact the Peterborough Police Department at 603-924-8050. We'd love to work with you to make it happen!

This past week, we had the privilege of visiting several schools and early childhood learning centers in our community to meet with children, talk about what it means to be a police officer, and show them our cruisers.

Officer MacPherson visited Monadnock Early Learning Center, Sergeant Byam stopped by Lionheart Classical Academy, and Lieutenant Xenakis traveled to Happy Valley Preschool.

The children asked some great questions, and we were just as excited as they were during each visit. Thank you to all the students, teachers, and staff for welcoming us into your classrooms!

ConVal High School Honor Society recently hosted its third annual Day of Service event. ConVal students and faculty traveled to several district municipal properties to participate in community service activities throughout the area.

SRO Hyland was fortunate to host eight hardworking students here at PPD. Their efforts and enthusiasm were greatly appreciated!

Thank you to ConVal High School and everyone involved for giving back to the community — well done!

Pictured below are SRO Hyland and Ofc. MacPherson with the group of dedicated students.

The Peterborough Police Department is proud to serve one of the most supportive communities in New Hampshire — and we’re fortunate to remain one of the few fully staffed departments in the area.

That doesn’t happen by accident. It’s because of the outstanding officers who wear this badge and the community that stands behind them every day.

As future retirements approach, we are preparing to welcome the next generation of dedicated professionals to our team.

If you’re looking for more than just a job — if you’re committed to service, professionalism, teamwork, and making a difference — we encourage you to apply.

This is your opportunity to build a rewarding career while serving a town that truly values its officers.

Yesterday, members of the Peterborough Police Department participated in a day-long training hosted at the Peterborough Town Library. At the conclusion of the training sessions, Sergeant Sweeney, Lieutenant Xenakis, and Chief Scott Guinard presented Life Saving Citation Bars, Field Training Officer pins, and a Drug Recognition Expert pin to several members of the department.

Detective Sophia Reichl and Patrolman Steven Maurice were each awarded Life Saving Citation Bars for their heroic actions on February 4, 2026, and February 18, 2026. Due to the sensitive nature of these incidents and to protect the identities of those involved, no additional details are being released.

Patrolman Andrew Lindberg and Patrolman Steven Maurice were also presented with their Field Training Officer pins. In their new roles, they will help lead and mentor the next generation of Peterborough Police Officers, joining Sergeant Byam, Sergeant Sweeney, and Lieutenant Xenakis as Field Training Officers.

In addition, Patrolman Steven Maurice received his Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) pin after successfully completing the DRE course last month.

We would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to the entire staff of the Peterborough Police Department for their professionalism, dedication, and continued commitment to serving the Peterborough community each and every day.

The department would also like to take a moment to recognize and thank our town officials and distinguished guests for attending yesterday’s event: Town Administrator Nicole MacStay; Selectboard Member William Kennedy and his son Ethan; Chief Walker; Mitch and Tim from IT; Finance Director Lilli Gilligan, Payroll and Benefits Manager Amanda Davie; Director of Security at Monadnock Community Hospital, Chris Weeks; and EMS Coordinator at Monadnock Community Hospital, Mike Greenough. Their continued support and partnership are greatly appreciated.
