The Petal Police Department is now accepting applications for an Animal Warden.
This position is responsible for enforcing animal control laws, responding to animal-related calls, investigating complaints, and ensuring the safety and welfare of both the public and animals within the City of Petal. Duties may include handling stray or dangerous animals, assisting with cruelty investigations, and working closely with the community.
Applicants should be dependable, comfortable working with animals, and able to handle stressful situations professionally. Prior experience in animal control, or a related field is preferred, but not required.

It was a privilege to participate in the 2026 Law Enforcement Memorial as we honor those officers who gave the ultimate sacrifice. Thank you to everyone who attended and thank you to those men and women who continue to serve each and every day.

Earlier this morning our officers had the privilege of participating in the 2026 Torch Run, in support of MS Special Olympics!

On March 20, 2026, Officers with the Petal Police Department arrested multiple juveniles in connection with a series of incidents involving objects being shot at random passing vehicles.
The incidents occurred over a short period of time in the city limits of Petal. Complaints to the Petal Police Department indicated that individuals were using an Orbeez-style gel blaster gun to shoot at vehicles as they passed by them in a grey Toyota Camry. While the projectiles are non-lethal, the activity posed a significant safety risk and possible damage to vehicles.
Following a traffic stop at HWY 42 and Sunrise Road, officers identified and located the individuals believed to be responsible. The juveniles were taken into custody without incident and are now facing charges related to their actions.
Petal Police Department takes incidents like this very seriously and will continue to respond swiftly to protect the safety of our community.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be filed if further information becomes available.
