It was a genuine pleasure to attend today's Juneteenth ceremony at Perth Amboy City Hall Circle! Rev. Donna Stewart, president of our local chapter of the NAACP and her team did a terrific job of organizing and capturing exactly the right tone for the day!! Thank you to our 19th District Assembly team of Speaker Craig Coughlin and Yvonne Lopez for participating and always being present at important Perth Amboy events! Our city historian John D**e did a great job connecting the history of our City to the meaning behind Juneteenth as well.

¡Fue un verdadero placer asistir a la ceremonia de Juneteenth celebrada hoy en la rotonda del Ayuntamiento de Perth Amboy! La reverenda Donna Stewart, presidenta de nuestra sección local de la NAACP, y su equipo realizaron una labor magnífica organizando el evento y logrando transmitir el tono perfecto para la ocasión. ¡Gracias al equipo de la Asamblea del Distrito 19 —integrado por el presidente Craig Coughlin e Yvonne Lopez— por participar y estar siempre presentes en los eventos importantes de Perth Amboy! Hello, Perth Amboy. Here are some thoughts and observations on the new letter sent by the Perth Amboy Water Department this week outlining the condition of our drinking water as to Gross Alpha Particle contamination. Are things better or worse? Its kind of hard to tell. Please watch this video as the letter seems to create as many questions as it answers. The 2025 and 2026 letter are both attached in the first and second comments for your easy reference.

TOMORROW THE PERTH AMBOY CITY COUNCIL IS SCHEDULED TO MEET AND ONCE AGAIN THERE IS NO ANNOUNCED ANNUAL MUNICIPAL BUDGET ON THE AGENDA. NJ law required that Mayor Caba present an annual budget to the Perth Amboy City Council for consideration no later than February 28th. That never occurred and to this very day the Perth Amboy City Council has failed to criticize, chastise or otherwise complain publicly about this situation.

NJ law also required the City Council to present the budget to the public at a meeting by March 31st. They failed to do so then and have failed to pass an annual budget at every meeting that they have held since. Instead, they continue to vote on temporary emergency appropriations in order to keep the City government funded until the introduce the annual budget.

What are Caba and his Council hiding? Why won't the Council publicly criticize the Mayor's blatant violation of the law. What's so important that they would rather pay fines and continue to violate the law? Why doesn't the the Mayor and the Council want YOU to see the budget?? Is there a massive tax hike coming? Cuts in municipal services? Lay offs of City Employees? All of the above? Perth Amboy deserves transparency and answers!!

Mañana está prevista una reunión del Concejo Municipal de Perth Amboy y, una vez más, el presupuesto municipal anual no figura en el orden del día. La ley de Nueva Jersey exigía que el alcalde Caba presentara el presupuesto anual al Concejo Municipal de Perth Amboy para su consideración a más tardar el 28 de febrero. Eso nunca sucedió y, hasta el día de hoy, el Concejo Municipal de Perth Amboy no ha criticado, reprendido ni expresado públicamente ninguna queja sobre esta situación.

La ley de Nueva Jersey también exigía que el Concejo Municipal presentara el presupuesto al público en una reunión antes del 31 de marzo. No lo hicieron en ese momento y tampoco han aprobado un presupuesto anual en ninguna de las reuniones celebradas desde entonces. ¿Qué ocultan Caba y su Concejo? ¿Por qué el Concejo no critica públicamente la flagrante violación de la ley por parte del alcalde? ¿Qué es tan importante como para preferir pagar multas y seguir infringiendo la ley? ¿Por qué el alcalde y el Concejo no quieren que USTED vea el presupuesto? ¿Se avecina un aumento masivo de impuestos? ¿Recortes en los servicios municipales? ¿Despidos de empleados municipales? ¿Todo lo anterior? ¡¡Perth Amboy merece transparencia y respuestas!!
