Happy Flag Day! 🇺🇸

Today we celebrate the American flag—a proud symbol of our nation’s freedom, strength, and unity. On June 14, 1777, the Stars and Stripes were officially adopted as the flag of the United States.

As you display your American flag, remember a few important flag etiquette guidelines:

✔ If your flag is flown 24 hours a day, it should be properly illuminated at night.
✔ Unless it is an all-weather flag, bring it indoors during severe weather.
✔ The union (blue field with stars) should always be positioned at the top of the staff.

We’d love to see your patriotism on display! Share a photo of your American flag in the comments and help us celebrate Flag Day.

Let’s fill the community with red, white, and blue!

As temperatures are expected to soar this week, this is a reminder to our residents the Perry Park Center is available, during normal business hours, as a cooling center due to the extreme heat.

Warm weather is here, and so are the mosquitoes! The City’s mosquito control program is now underway!

🦟 Mosquito Spraying Underway 🦟

It's that time of year—heat, humidity, and mosquitoes! Mosquito control efforts are currently underway and will continue throughout the summer months.

🌙 Weather permitting, the City sprays for mosquitoes twice a week during mosquito season. Additional treatments may occur as needed based on weather conditions and mosquito activity.

Help reduce mosquitoes around your home by:
💧 Eliminating standing water where mosquitoes can lay eggs
🪣 Emptying containers that collect rainwater
🏡 Keeping your property free of stagnant or slow-moving water
Remember: No standing water means fewer mosquitoes and fewer places for them to call home!

Thank you for helping keep our community more comfortable and mosquito-free this summer.

⚠️ Please help us be vigilant about reminding friends and neighbors that school is out. This means more and more children are out and about, some of them on bikes, some walking or running next to (or sometimes into) the street. We all know that kids react on a moment's notice and sometimes without thinking, so we as drivers must remain aware and watchful. 🚴🚶‍♂️ 🚗
Wishing a happy and safe summer to all! 🌞
