The Scholastic Book Fair is coming! Students can shop with their adult during Donuts with Grownups on October 1 or 2, and classes will shop those same days during school hours. E-wallet information is coming soon, but we do have one of our first volunteer opportunities for the school year! Follow the link to help set up, help with wishlists/gauge interest during preview day, help shoppers during Donuts with Grownups, help classes shop and budget during class shopping times, or to tear down. To make things even more fun, I’ve added our shopping schedule in the comments so if you’d like to help your child’s class, you’ll know which slot to sign up for. We couldn’t do it without you, and we appreciate your time!

It’s almost Donuts with Grownups time!
Donuts with Grownups will be Thursday, October 1 for last names A-M and Friday, October 2 for last names N-Z. You can enjoy a donut beginning at 8am until the bell rings at 8:50. Our Scholastic Book Fair will also be those two days so you can grab a donut then head to the gym to shop the Book Fair(students will also be shopping with their class those days as well). Donuts with Grownups takes place at the park gazebo at the 795 entrance, so plan to park in that lot and not the bus lot on White rd. Donuts with Grownups and the Book Fair are for ALL grades!

*Reminders: please only ONE adult per Woodland student, and one donut per person. You MUST RSVP to ensure we have enough donuts- we don’t want anyone sad! Please only attend on your Last Name day(the day you RSVP’d). Please plan to stay with your child until the bell rings at 8:50. There will be no staff members out greeting and welcoming students until the bell rings. RSVP deadline is September 28, and please enter the number of donuts in the quantity drop down at the top of the sign up.

We can’t wait to see everyone!

Be sure your school is set to Woodland, and you can “give credit” under “my earnings” and select each set of Box Tops and choose the grade. Super easy way to support our students and staff! 💛🖤

The last and arguably one of the most important board members is our Treasurer, Deb Schiering! Deb has been on the board for many years and knows all the ins and outs. Here’s a little about Deb:

My daughter, Zoey, is in 5th grade at HPI, and my son, Zander, is in 2nd grade with Mrs. Simok.

When we aren’t busy juggling work, school, and way too many extracurricular activities, our family loves spending time outdoors, baking, doing crafts, traveling, spending time with family and friends, and, most of all, seeking out new experiences and making memories together.

One of my favorite things about being part of the WPC is getting to be involved in all of the events we put on. There’s something so special about watching the kids have fun, make new friends, and create memories together. The event I look forward to the most, though, is the climbing event. Climbing is one of our favorite hobbies as a family, so I love being able to share something we enjoy so much with our WPC community. It’s incredibly rewarding to watch both kids and adults push themselves outside of their comfort zones, overcome challenges, encourage one another, and celebrate each other’s accomplishments. There’s something really special about watching someone realize they’re capable of more than they thought they could do!

Another very special part of the WPC for me is Nicky’s Snack Shack. It holds a very special place in my heart as a way to honor Nicky Hancock, a past WPC president and, most importantly, my best friend. Nicky gave so much of her time, energy, and heart to the parent club and our community. She had an incredible ability to bring people together and make everyone feel welcome.

Being able to continue her legacy through Nicky’s Snack Shack means more to me than I can put into words. It’s a beautiful reminder of the impact she made, the memories she created, and the love she shared with so many of us. I’m so grateful that we can keep her spirit alive in a place where our families can come together, have fun, and continue making memories—just as Nicky would have wanted.

Thank you SO much, Deb, for everything you do for WPC and the students & staff. We appreciate you more than you know! 💛🖤

The next board member is WPC’s Vice President Courtney Rambo(me!). I handle our social media and messages, and I’m part of most of our events at school. Here’s a bit about me:

I have a first and fourth grader. In the little free time I have, I like to read lots of books, swim and spend as much time with my family as possible! I love being part of the Parent Club and being part of making memories for the students.

One of my favorite WPC events is the winter shop. I love watching students shop for their families and their excitement talking about their finds. I also love the family dance and watching all the work pay off! 💛🖤
