Hey, it’s been awhile! You have helped us out in the past and we are hoping you will do the same this time.

If anyone recognizes this vehicle, please send us a quick message. We will be more than happy to keep your “tip” anonymous!

The City is trying really hard to keep the city brush pile open and available to our residents, but if we continue to see this type of “dumping”, the brush pile may need to be closed.

Hey Perry!

It has come to our attention that some misinformation is going around regarding an active shooter in Perry this evening. This is not true.

Around 9:00 pm this evening, Perry Police Officers and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the area of Bridge St. and Cedar St for an incident possibly involving a firearm. Perry Police arrived on scene and after investigating, took one individual into custody.

It was determined by officers on scene that no gunshots were fired prior to the arrival of law enforcement.

You may have seen our newest patrol car cruising around town. It looks significantly different than our other vehicles but it really highlights the partnership we have with USD #343 for the Resource Officer Program!

The new decals for our SRO vehicle have been installed. We feel very fortunate to have a full-time SRO in our school district.

-Perry Police Department Partners with Perry-Lecompton Public Schools for School Resource Officer Program-

The Perry Police Department is joining forces with Perry-Lecompton Public Schools USD #343 to introduce a full-time police officer as a dedicated School Resource Officer (SRO) for the district. This collaborative effort makes the City of Perry the first in Jefferson County to hire a full-time officer specifically to enhance student safety within the schools.

Putting students' safety first, the Perry Police Department is taking a proactive approach to create a secure and conducive learning environment. The community aims to foster positive relationships between law enforcement and students by placing a full-time SRO within the schools.

We are incredibly excited about teaming up with Perry-Lecompton Public Schools for this position. Our students' safety is a top priority, and this partnership shows our dedication to providing a safe space for learning and growth.

We want to thank the Perry City Council and USD #343 School Board for supporting this proposal. It is anticipated that the SRO will begin working within the next two weeks.

Willkomm Trail is a nice little hike with access to the Kansas River.

It is open to the public from sunrise to sunset. Our maintenance department works hard keeping the trails in good shape.

If you're in the mood to explore, head to Willkomm Trails in Kansas to discover a lesser known hike that leads to a beach.
