On Friday, July 24th at approximately 4:58pm the Wyoming County Sheriff's Department Communications Division received a call regarding a two vehicle head on motor vehicle collision on State Route 20a West of Coe road in the Town of Perry. At 4:59pm Perry Fire Department, Town of Perry Ambulance Service Inc., Wyoming County Office of Emergency Services, Perry Center Fire Department, Perry Police Department, and New York State Police were dispatched to the scene. First arriving units found a two vehicle head on collision with multiple victims ranging from mild to severe injuries with one vehicle blocking the West bound lane and the other on the South shoulder off the road approximately 30' with significant front end damage. One victim was still entrapped in the vehicle. Command was established and extrication equipment was requested. Wyoming County Medic 80 arrived on scene and along with staff from Town of Perry Ambulance began triage and initial patient care. Mercy Flight was called to respond to the scene. As more units arrived, extraction of the entrapped victim began. Medical care was provided to both critical victims and Warsaw Fire Department & Rescue Squad was dispatched to evaluate the occupant of the other vehicle. A second Mercy Flight helicopter was requested. Both victims of the vehicle to the south side of the road were transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with critical injuries. The victim in the vehicle block the West bound lane was transported to ECMC. State Route 20a was closed in both directions for the next 3 hours for accident reconstruction by the NYSP. At this time the incident is still under investigation. We would like to thank all of the responding agencies for their quick response professionalism during this critical incident.
