Myth: You'll always know if a bat bites you. Fact: Bat bites and scratches can be small and hard to detect, similar to a mosquito bite. That's why any potential contact with a bat should be reported to the OSDH Epidemiologist-on-Call at 405-426-8710. Rabies is preventable after an exposure—but only if you act in a timely manner.
