Yesterday afternoon TCFR and the F.F.S. responded to a wildfire in the area of Golf Course Road. The fire was in a remote area, threatening no structures. The cause was a lightning strike, and the fire was contained to 14 acres. F.F.S. crews are working this morning to extinguish the remaining hot spots on the fire.

After reviewing conditions with our partners at the Florida Forest Service, it has been determined there is currently no need for a County-Wide Burn Ban. We will continue to monitor conditions moving forward for the event, which would need to be reinstated.

The weekend rain provided limited and temporary relief to the Northwestern area of Taylor County. Conditions remain hazardous as we await more substantial rainfall.

The National Interagency Fire Center prediction places Taylor County in the middle of above-normal for significant wildland fire potential through July.

Taylor County remains under a county-wide burn ban along with our neighboring counties. Recent rainfall helped in some areas; however, the county remains in a drought, with large areas remaining extremely dry.

TCFR and the Florida Forest Service responded to a brush fire off Wilbur Knowles road today.
The fire was in a remote area and approximately a half acre in size. The cause is undetermined at this time but expected to be from a lightning strike.

Forestry crews were able to quickly put a fire line in place.

TCFR and Florida Forest Service responded to a brush fire today off San Pedro road that was started from downed powerlines.

Crews contained the fire to approximately 3 acres
