Perry Middle School students have officially started the 30-Day Team Tressel Fitness Challenge - a statewide initiative designed to help students build lifelong healthy habits!

For 30 days, students will document their progress toward personal goals in five activity groups: cardio, strength, flexibility, nutrition, and sleep.

We’re proud to see our students taking on this challenge and making healthy choices each day! It’s also great to have our newly updated Fitness Room to help our students reach their goals!

THE PIRATE CODE IS MAKING ITS MARK AT PERRY MIDDLE SCHOOL!

We’ve been busy sprucing up our building with refreshed hallway displays, updated athletics signage, and new visuals highlighting our Pirate Code — the Three R’s: Respectful, Responsible, and Ready to Learn.

These updates go hand-in-hand with the launch of our PBIS program, which teaches and reinforces the behaviors students need to be Respectful, Responsible, and Ready to Learn throughout our school.

Using school-wide data, our staff identifies areas that need reinforcement and provides consistent expectations through lessons, videos, signage, and common language.

Students who demonstrate the Three R’s can earn Pirate Bucks! These can be used for weekly raffles, school purchases, and quarterly incentives.

From our hallways to our classrooms, we’re creating a positive school culture where students know what is expected, are recognized for making great choices, and take pride in being Perry Pirates!

Mrs Gaser came up with an idea of bringing Faculty together to cheer on our MS Athletes at events. She even came up with a logo for the shirts. Dr Basich supported this idea. Mr Joe Dasinger was able to order shirts and transfers. Today his 8th grade class completed the shirts and we had some of our MS Staff proudly wear the "Faculty Fanatic" tee shirts to the MS Football games today.

On Friday the 7th graders at Perry Middle School used the Virtual Reality headsets funded through a grant by Lubrizol Corporation for the first time. Mrs. Monroe lead students through the Prisms Math & Science tutorial and the response was amazing. Quotes included: "This is fire," "I can actually learn in school," and "This makes school so much better, like 10 times better."

Consider joining The Perry Schools Key Communicator Network!

The Key Communicator Network was established to enhance two-way communication between the school district and the community at large and is open to anyone who wishes to join.

The District will provide members with information on various school related topics via email. The information is meant to supplement what is already community wide knowledge. As a Key Communicator, members will be able to accurately disseminate this information to district stakeholders who may not have seen the initial district wide communication, or may help correct any misconceptions regarding that communication.

Members of the network are asked to provide the district with topics that might require more clarity to our stakeholders. Misperceptions or inaccuracies spreading in the community should be reported to the district as soon as possible.

“Word of mouth” may be one of the most powerful communications tools available. Your participation enhances the district's effectiveness in its use.
