On April 11, 1996, the Perris station was formed out of jurisdictions previously policed by Jurupa Valley, Lake Elsinore, Southwest and Hemet Stations. Presently the station offers police services for the city of Perris and the unincorporated communities of Gavilan Hills, Glen Valley, Good Hope, Homeland, Juniper Flats, Lake Mathews, Lakeview, Meadowbrook, Nuevo, Mead Valley, Romoland, Wi******er,

and Woodcrest. The Perris station is also home to the Sheriff's Forensics Services Bureau, the Sheriff's Dive Team, and the Gang Task force region 6.

🚨 HIT-AND-RUN ARREST 🚨

Deputies responded to a hit-and-run collision in the area of 4th Street and Navajo Road. Upon arrival, deputies observed a Hispanic male adult flee from the vehicle on foot.

Deputies quickly established a perimeter and, just minutes later, located and apprehended the suspect. He was taken into custody without further incident.

The suspect was arrested for:
🚔 Driving Under the Influence of Drugs
🚔 Hit-and-Run Causing Injury
🚔 Possession of Methamphetamine
🚔Possession of Stolen Vehicle

🚨 TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT 🚨

This morning, Perris Station Traffic Team conducted speed enforcement on Ramona Expressway between Rider Street and Bradley Road.

During the operation, deputies issued 43 speeding citations to motorists traveling at unsafe speeds. Deputies also stopped a wrong-way driver traveling on Ramona Expressway.

⚠️Fatal Traffic Collision - Suspect Arrested (Update)⚠️

Update:
On August 18, 2026, Silvia Corona posted bail and was released from custody.

On August 20, 2026, the Riverside District Attorney’s Office issued an arrest warrant for an additional charge of second-degree murder. Deputies from the Perris Sheriff’s Station responded to Corona’s residence, where she was taken into custody without incident. Corona was booked into the Cois M. Byrd Detention Center for second-degree murder, and her bail was set at $1,000,000. This investigation remains ongoing, and no further details will be released at this time.

Update:
The Perris Sheriff’s Station Traffic Reconstruction Team continued the investigation and identified Silvia Corona, a 52-year-old female from San Jacinto, as the suspect in the collision.

On August 17, 2026, Corona was arrested and booked into the Cois M. Byrd Detention Center for gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury.

⚠️Suspect Arrested for Assault with a Deadly Weapon

Perris Sheriff’s Station Investigations identified 49-year-old Jason Adams of Homeland as the suspect in a shooting that occurred in the 33000 block of Simpson Road in Wi******er. The victim was treated and released from a local hospital.

On Friday, August 7, 2026, Riverside Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit, with assistance from SEB and the K9 Unit, arrested Adams in Hemet.

A search warrant at his Homeland residence resulted in the recovery of evidence and 13 fi****ms, including a suppressed handgun, several assault ri**es, and a stolen handgun. Several fi****ms were unregistered or had no serial numbers.

Adams was booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center for assault with a deadly weapon—fi***rm and felon in possession of a fi***rm.

Major Injury Traffic Collision⚠️ ** Update**

Deputies from the Perris Sheriff’s Station responded to the 500 block of West 4th Street, Perris, regarding the report of a traffic collision involving a motorcycle. Upon arrival, deputies located the motorcyclist in the roadway with significant injuries. The motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital, where they remain in critical but stable condition. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was cooperative with the investigation.

The Perris Traffic Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. During the investigation, deputies determined the driver, later identified as Mauricio Cruz Cortez, a 61-year-old resident of Murrieta, was under the influence of a controlled substance. Cortez was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center for driving under the influence causing serious bodily injury.

S*x Offender Parole and Probation Compliance

Members of the Perris Station’s Investigation Bureau, Special Enforcement Team, and Traffic Team, in collaboration with State Parole and Riverside County Probation, conducted a s*x offender parole and probation compliance check at multiple locations within the Perris area. Compliance checks were conducted at 32 locations involving 45 registrants to ensure all registrants were following their s*x offender registration requirements.

During the operation, four subjects were arrested and booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center.
