Today Otter Tail County Land & Resources, Wadena County Planning & Zoning, and the SWCD met with area Realtors to discuss issues affecting lakeshore properties. Presentations included Wetland Conservation Act basics, Septic Inspections and Compliance, and the new Lake Stewardship Guidebook from the SWCD. You can access the guidebooks on our websites.

Celebrating Earth Day today and every day! Landowners in East Otter Tail County work with us in many ways (cover crops, irrigation scheduling, grazing plans, MAWQCP water quality certification, shoreland restorations, and more) that promote good stewardship for their land and the planet.

The golden light at sunset, a prairie hilltop, melting snow, and one of Minnesota’s first signs of spring—the soft violet petals of pasque flowers pushing through it all.

Captured at Glendalough State Park yesterday, these resilient blooms remind us that renewal is always just beneath the surface. Spring in our natural areas is a powerful example of why conservation matters—protecting these landscapes ensures that future generations can experience moments like this.

Take time to enjoy the spring season, get outside, notice the little things, and do your part to care for the natural resources that make the places, and scenes like this so special.
