Otter Tail County residents are spending millions of dollars outside the county on everyday purchases—and that creates opportunity.

A recent retail leakage analysis highlights some of the biggest gaps in our local market, including:
🛒 Grocery stores
🛍️ General merchandise stores
🍽️ Full-service restaurants

These findings help communities, developers, and business owners identify opportunities to expand existing businesses, recruit new ones, and better meet local demand.

If you're considering starting a business, expanding an existing one, or exploring a new market opportunity, the Perham EDA is here to help. We can provide market data, connect you with financing resources, and assist you through every stage of the development process.

By understanding where retail dollars are leaving the county, we can make smarter economic development decisions, strengthen our local economy, and keep more of those dollars—and the jobs and investment they support—right here in our community.

📞 Have a business idea or expansion plan? Reach out to the Perham EDA—we'd love to start the conversation.

Dangers of a Natural Gas Leak
*A Natural Gas Leak can cause an Explosion - If you suspect a natural gas leak, leave the building immediately and do not do anything that could create an electrical spark. Natural gas becomes highly explosive when it makes up 5% to 15% of the surrounding air; avoiding any action that could generate a static, open, or electrical spark is critical. Once in a safe location call 911 or Perham Natural Gas (PNG) 24 hour Emergency Line (888) 262-3837.
*A Natural Gas Leak can result in a Fire - Natural gas is highly flammable; help prevent a fire by keeping appliances clean, maintaining a clear blue flame, and never using a gas range for space heating. If you smell a rotten-egg odor or hear a hissing sound, evacuate immediately, avoid electrical switches, and call 911 or PNG 24 hour Emergency Line from a safe location.
*A Natural Gas Leak can be Dangerous - Natural gas leaks are dangerous because they displace oxygen, causing symptoms like headaches, dizziness, and nausea. If you smell a rotten-egg odor associated with a gas leak, leave immediately. Do not use phones, turn on lights, or touch anything that might create a spark. Once safely outside, call 911 or PNG 24 hour Emergency Line.
