Rep. Darin LaHood presented the City of Peoria Illinois - Government with a $600,000 check today for the Galena Road Industrial Park. Peoria County Board Chairman James C. Dillon and County Board Member Linda Daley joined Peoria Mayor Rita Ali for the press conference.

This funding will help pay for land acquisition and infrastructure improvements on the site, which is currently owned by Peoria County. The County, City, and Greater Peoria Economic Development Council are working together to create more industry-ready sites that will help attract more industrial development and jobs to the Peoria area.

The Galena Road Industrial Park lies within a tax-increment financing (TIF) District created by the City of Peoria in 2024. The land was also rezoned by the City for industrial usage earlier this year.

The $600,000 comes after Congressman LaHood submitted a Community Project Funding request during the annual federal appropriations process.

09/02/2026

Peoria County Treasurer Branden Martin reminds Peoria County taxpayers that the second installment of real estate taxes is due on Wednesday, September 9, 2026.

Taxes are payable in person at the Peoria County Treasurer’s office, or at most county banks with payment coupon. Taxes may also be paid by mail, by credit card and electronic check online, or via phone. Please note, there is a convenience fee that is charged for an electronic or phone payment.

“We know taxpayers have busy schedules, so we offer several payment options, from in person to online to over the phone,” said Treasurer Branden Martin. “Paying online is the fastest and safest way to ensure your payment is received on time, but no matter which method you choose, be sure your payment is received or postmarked by September 9 to avoid penalties.”

The Peoria County Treasurer’s Office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. If paying in person, please note the Treasurer’s Office is temporarily located in the Peoria County Courthouse, 324 Main St., Room 401, Peoria, IL 61602.

Payments made by mail must be postmarked by the post office on or before September 9, 2026. Payments postmarked after this date will be subject to a penalty charge. The appropriate payment stub located on the bottom of the tax bill should accompany the tax payment. Taxpayers should remember to put their parcel number on their check to ensure proper credit.

If a tax bill has been misplaced, lost, or never received, a duplicate bill can be printed online at http://propertytax.peoriacounty.gov/. Failure to receive a tax bill or receiving it late for any reason does not relieve the taxpayer of penalties if not paid by the due date.

Questions regarding the payment of your taxes should be directed to the Peoria County Treasurer’s office at (309) 672-6065, option 5. Residents with questions concerning address changes, property assessments, and exemptions should be directed to the Supervisor of Assessments office at (309) 672-6910. Questions regarding the City of Peoria garbage fee should be directed to the City Finance department at (309) 494-8800 or online at https://www.peoriagov.org/533.
