It is with mixed emotions that we announce the retirement of goodest boy and 7-year Peoria County K9 Team Veteran, K9 Tim. Earlier this morning, K9 Tim finished his final shift with his partner, Deputy Griggs, before heading home to celebrate a well-deserved retirement with a pupcake, balloons, and belly rubs. At the age of 9 years old, K9 Tim is being retired due to declining mobility in his hind legs. (Though you wouldn't know it based on how well he jumped up on that A-frame today!)
K9 Tim Vom Sankt Georg joined the Peoria County K9 Team in February 2014 at the age of two, after being born and trained in Germany. Tim is a dual-purpose patrol K-9, trained in narcotics detection, tracking, criminal apprehension, and handler protection. Throughout the course of his seven-year career, Tim has provided incredible service to the Peoria County Sheriff's Office, including:
▸ 426 Calls for Service and 129 Agency Assists
▸ 265 Traffic Stop Vehicle Sniffs
▸ 81 Felony and 32 Misdemeanor Arrests
▸ 29 Vehicles, 9 Illegal Fi****ms, and 144 Pieces of Drug Equipment Seized
▸ 40 Grams of Co***ne, 80 Grams of Methamphetamine, 591.21 Grams of Cannabis, 3.3 Grams of He**in, 14.2 Grams of Synthetic Cannabis, 6.5 Grams of MDMD, 9.5 Grams of L*D, 3.5 Grams of DMT, and 138 Illegal Prescription Pills Seized
▸ $14,804 in US Currency Seized
▸ 26 Criminal Apprehensions
While we are sad to see him go, we wish K9 Tim all the best in his retirement and hope there are many days of rest and relaxation ahead. Congratulations, buddy! We'll miss you! 🖤
