More than 50 women veterans gathered in Surprise this weekend to celebrate Women Veterans Recognition Day through connection, leadership, wellness, and community.

While we planned a day filled with speakers, activities, and networking, what made this event truly special were the moments that can’t be scheduled:

The women who arrived alone and left with new friendships.

The stories shared across generations, branches, and experiences.

The laughter, encouragement, vulnerability, and understanding that only another woman veteran can fully appreciate.

The reminder that although military service may end, the need for connection and community does not.

Thank you to every woman veteran who joined us. Your presence is what made this event meaningful.

We are also grateful to our event partner, CNJ Resource, the City of Surprise, Mayor Kevin Sartor, our keynote speaker Jeanette Garcia, our panelists, volunteers, sponsors, and community partners who helped make this day possible.

As we celebrate the official Women Veterans Recognition Day on June 12, we hope every woman veteran takes a moment to reflect on her service and recognize the impact she continues to make every day.

Women veterans are still serving.
Still leading.
Still mentoring.
Still advocating.
Still building stronger communities.

And we are honored to stand alongside them.

Until next year. ❤️🇺🇸

From Military Women's Memorial:

Long before America declared its independence, women were serving and contributing to the cause of freedom. For more than 250 years, through every conflict, every challenge, and every chapter of our Nation’s history, women have answered the call to serve.

On National Women Veterans Recognition Day, June 12, we pause to honor and thank the generations of women who have worn our Nation’s uniform and strengthened America through their service and sacrifice.

To every woman veteran: thank you.

Thank you for your service. Thank you for the barriers you broke, the paths you forged, and the example you continue to set for future generations. You helped shape our Nation, strengthen our Armed Forces, and safeguard the freedoms we cherish today.

As America commemorates its 250th anniversary, it is fitting that we celebrate the extraordinary women who have been part of our Nation's story from the very beginning. Their service is woven into the fabric of America itself.

As part of the celebration, we invite you to join the Military Women's Memorial on June 12, 2026, at 5PM ET, via livestream for our National Women Veterans Recognition Day Celebration as we honor the 251-year legacy of women's service to our Nation.

Great Building Connections Brunch this morning! This monthly gathering is about more than just brunch. It is about building belonging, support systems, friendships, and community after service. ❤️

We are grateful for everyone who joined us today and look forward to continuing to build a community that empowers, supports, and inspires women veterans across the West Valley and beyond.

Our Building Connections Brunch is our signature monthly gathering held the first Sunday of every month.

All eras. All branches. All welcome.

A special thank you to Brothers Family Restaurant in Peoria for always being such wonderful hosts and for allowing us to use your banquet room for these gatherings.

Thank you as well to Jeanna for bringing the beautiful floral arrangements and Cassandra for the gifts from Resurrection Home Ministries to help us celebrate our women veterans in advance of Women Veterans Recognition Day. Your thoughtfulness made the space feel even more special and welcoming.

Save the date: Our next brunch is July 5th.🇺🇸

Today was something special.

Thank you to everyone who joined us this Memorial Day to hike, reflect, connect, and remember together.

We will be sharing more photos soon, but one moment that meant so much was having Dr. Adam McCray’s widow, Bailey, join us at the top of the mountain.

Our hope is simple:
Next year, we want to see you at the top of the mountain with us, sharing stories and making memories together. Not honoring your memory after you’ve made the choice to leave us.❤️‍🩹

Events like this matter because connection matters. Veterans need other veterans. People need community. Sometimes simply showing up, having conversations, sharing stories, and reminding one another that nobody has to carry life alone can make more of a difference than we realize. 🇺🇸

Memorial Day can feel heavy for many people. If you do not want to spend the day alone, we hope you will join us for a relaxed, family-friendly community hike and meet-up.

3rd Annual Dr. Adam McCray Memorial Day Event

This is about getting outside, honoring those we have lost, and spending time in community together.

Veteran, family member, supporter, or simply looking for connection, you are welcome here.

Bring the kids. Bring a friend. Come as you are. ❤️

What a great day out on the water with the Veteran community.

A huge thank you to American Legion Post 94, Military Order of the Purple Heart Post 69, and Lake Pleasant Cruises for helping make this opportunity possible for Veterans and their families!

Events like this are about so much more than a boat ride. They create space for connection, conversation, camaraderie, and community. Opportunities for Veterans to come together, laugh, network, share stories, and simply enjoy time with people who understand the military experience truly matter. ❤️

Thank you to everyone who came out and helped make today such a special experience!
