There is no place in this country for political violence. Our prayers are with the family of the local firefighter who lost his life protecting his family yesterday and with the two others who were seriously injured. Yesterday was a sad day for this country. We have lost the ability to have discourse with those we disagree with. Never should an assassination be an option for anyone.

Rest In Peace Rampart County Fire Department Mental Health Service dog K-9 GIMLI.

K-9 GIMLI passed away from old age this morning. K-9 GIMLI played a vital roll keeping his Handler Nathan safe and happy. K-9 GIMLI captured the hearts of anyone near him. K9 GIMLI was a thirteen year-old-Boxer, that was used to comfort people that needed it the most.

We will miss you, GIMLI. You are gone but will not be forgotten.

CMPD K-9 Officer Brent Simpson passed away today from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Officer Simpson was a graduate of the 148th Recruit Class and served with CMPD since 2006. Most recently, Officer Simpson was assigned to the K-9 unit and faithfully served alongside his K-9 partner, Levi, for six years. Prior to joining CMPD, Officer Simpson served in the U.S. Navy as an Operation Specialist with the Military Police for four years.

His life and service will never be forgotten. Please say a prayer for Officer Simpson's loved ones and fellow officers during this difficult time.
