Responding Companies- Peoria Heights FD E653, E654, Chief-1. Peoria FD-Batt Chief 1,C-6, E12, E11, E16, T-1.
June 7th around 12:48, Peoria Heights Fire Department and Peoria Fire Dept were alerted to a structure fire in the area of 900 block of E Highland Pl. Peoria Heights IL. First due companies reported smoke and fire showing on the front of the home. Fire was located in the front wall of the home and extinguished quickly. Search was conducted, and ventilation of the home was started. No fire extension from area of origin.
Due to the Auto Aid agreement in place this fire was extinguished before it could grow, preventing further loss. It also gave rapid manpower and equipment to the scene, this means safety to our firefighters and citizens.
Cause of fire is determined to be electrical outlet wiring inside front porch wall.
No Injuries reported.
Damage estimated under $15,000.

Great job! Life saving award Coffman,Hines,Daniels,Mojica
On Mother’s Day, for the first time, the Automatic Aid Agreement between the Village of Peoria Heights and the City of Peoria Fire Department was enacted for a medical emergency at 5533 Galena Road.

The call came in for a male in cardiac arrest who was not breathing and had no pulse.

Peoria Fire Department Engine 12 and Engine 15 responded alongside AMT and the Peoria Heights Fire Department. Through the combined efforts of all responding personnel, ROSC (return of spontaneous circulation) was achieved, a heartbeat was restored, and the patient was transported to the hospital with a beating heart.

Moments like this are exactly why automatic aid matters. In cardiac arrest situations, seconds matter. Manpower matters. Training matters. Resources matter.

This weekend we received notice that we have received the max $26,000.00 towards new extrication equipment. This is from the small equipment grant thru the office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal. Thank you OSFM for the continued support, and opportunity to replace aging equipment. We will be obtaining a full compliment of modern era extrication tools, with maximum portability, not limited by hoses! 60V battery powered.
