No motorcycles this time!

This past weekend was awesome.
My friend Joel and I competed in something I thought I’d never do after the military. We competed in the Legacy Team Sniper Match in Pennsylvania. Two days of long range shooting over a 2 mile course at the Ben Franklin Range. 18 stations of challenging guidelines and shots. Joel and I met riding Harley-Davidson’s a few years ago. So from motorcycles to shooting, here we are.

After spending years as a sniper in the SEAL teams and also a sniper instructor I surprisingly never had the urge to compete in competitions. But over the past year with a little persuasion from multiple friends of mine, I’ve realized this is something I used to love to do. So we jumped in head first this past weekend and had an absolute blast.
We may not be the best but we learned a lot and can’t wait to do another.

Along the way, we talked about service, moral injury, faith, purpose, healing, and what life can look like on the other side of some of our hardest experiences.

Moral injury can be difficult to explain.

For veterans and first responders, experiences during service can sometimes conflict with deeply held values and beliefs, leaving questions about identity, responsibility, trust, and meaning long after the moment has passed.

Understanding moral injury gives us language for an experience that can otherwise feel incredibly isolating.

Every episode of The Journey Unbound is the result of thoughtful planning, collaboration, and countless miles on the road.

To bring the series to life, we partnered with Iconium Media and Cassiar Film Co. Jamie Redmond, Film Production Manager at Iconium Media, directed the series, helping shape each story through thoughtfully chosen interview locations, conversations developed alongside Josh, and visuals designed to honor the experiences being shared.

Along the way, the production team built relationships that could only come from traveling together. Those moments behind the scenes became just as meaningful as the ones captured on camera, and they're part of what makes The Journey Unbound what it is.

What role do hobbies play in healing moral injury?

For many veterans and first responders, they’re more than just a way to pass time. Whether it’s riding a motorcycle, spending a morning fishing, camping under the stars, or hiking a favorite trail, these moments create space to slow down, reconnect, and rediscover purpose.

They don’t erase the past, but they can help us find peace, hope and healing.

•Temperature- 70°- 91°

Had an amazing day riding through Missouri. Highway 60 is awesome I’d love to ride it again. Minimal traffic and lots of curves. Also just enough rain to cool me off and slow me down.
House of Speed- Speed Dealer Customs event tomorrow.

It’s time to hit the road!

This weekend I’ll be riding to Joplin, Missouri for the East vs West Motorcycle Meet Up at House of Speed on Route 66. I’m excited to put some miles in and meet some cool people.
