ON THIS DAY IN AMERICAN HISTORY 🇺🇸

On September 14, 1814, Francis Scott Key began putting into words what he had witnessed through the night, the American flag still flying over Fort McHenry after a relentless British bombardment.

His poem, Defence of Fort M'Henry, would later become the words we know as “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

More than two centuries later, that flag and those words still remind us of the courage, perseverance, and love of country that have carried America through some of her most difficult hours.

Today, we remember the history behind our National Anthem and the enduring question that still stirs the heart of every American:

🇺🇸 “O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave…”

May it ever wave over the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Yesterday was a great day of conversation, collaboration, and community at the BRACE Faith Community Emergency Summit.

It was an honor to join faith leaders, emergency management professionals, community partners, and fellow panelists to discuss how we can better work together before, during, and after a disaster.

Thank you to BRACE – Be Ready Alliance Coordinating for Emergencies and Dr. Nick Jackson for bringing so many dedicated people to the table. The relationships we build before a crisis are often the ones that matter most when our communities need us.

Grateful for the opportunity to be part of this important conversation and for everyone committed to making Northwest Florida stronger, safer, and better prepared.

📚 Government Beyond the Textbook

Today members of our team had the opportunity to visit with Jay High School to speak with senior government students about public service and how the legislative process works.

It’s always encouraging to spend time with the next generation of Northwest Florida leaders. 🇺🇸
