A new piece of Pensacola has officially landed at PNS!

Yesterday, Pensacola International Airport - PNS unveiled a new mural in baggage claim celebrating the spirit of American Magic, a world-class sailing team who calls Pensacola home. The mural was generously gifted to the City of Pensacola - Government and PNS by American Magic and now joins our U.S. Navy Blue Angels mural as another true sense of place installation welcoming travelers to our community.

From the skies to the sea, these larger-than-life pieces showcase the innovation, energy, and identity that make Pensacola unlike anywhere else.

Whether you’re arriving home or visiting for the first time, we hope this mural reminds you exactly where you are: a city built on adventure, excellence, and the water.

Thank you to American Magic for this incredible gift to our airport and community.

Today, the City of Pensacola proudly unveiled the New Palafox with a special ribbon-cutting celebration honoring the small businesses that make this corridor such a vibrant part of our community.

At its core, this project was a major stormwater infrastructure investment that also transformed the streetscape — supporting local businesses, improving walkability, enhancing community gathering spaces, and investing in the future of our downtown.

Thank you to our residents, business owners, contractors, and supporters for your patience and partnership throughout construction.

We’re excited to officially welcome everyone back to experience the New Palafox.

The moment we've all been waiting for.
The New Palafox is officially open.

For the past five months, our downtown businesses showed up every single day through the noise, the detours, and the construction.

And so did you.

Pensacola, thank you for your patience and for continuing to show up for this community. This one's for all of us.

South Palafox is a pedestrian-only street through May 31. Vehicular traffic will return on June 1.

Today, I am pleased to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

Their courage, selflessness, and dedication will never be forgotten.

As we gather with family and friends this Memorial Day, let’s take a moment to reflect on the freedoms we enjoy because of those who gave everything to protect them and I wish everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day.

As America's 250th approaches, it is wonderful to see a spotlight shown on our part of that Revolutionary War story. History is more than a plaque or a statue in Pensacola. It is truly a part of who we are -- and it is part of what America's story is, too.

Far from the main action, the Spanish fought to reclaim Southern territory from the British, tying up their forces and aiding the American cause. We follow their path along the Gulf of Mexico.

This National Public Works Week, I would like to thank the dedicated men and women who keep the City of Pensacola running every single day.

From maintaining our roads and drainage systems to keeping our neighborhoods clean, safe, and beautiful, our Public Works employees are vital to the city’s daily operations.

Their hard work often happens behind the scenes, but its impact is seen in every facet of our community. We literally couldn’t function without them.

On behalf of our great city, thank you for your service, professionalism, and commitment to making Pensacola a better place to live, work, and visit.

Today, along with Mayor D.C. Reeves and surrounded by family, friends, city leaders and members of our community we proudly welcomed Eric Winstrom as Chief of Police for the City of Pensacola during his official swearing in ceremony.

While the ceremony could have taken place earlier, Chief Winstrom asked that it be delayed until he successfully completed his required state training – a reflection of his commitment to professionalism, preparation, and leading by example.

Recognizing his role in this history of our department, Chief Winstrom shared, “As the caretaker for a department that’s been here for hundreds of years, it’s my duty to ensure our work is done in a way which honors PPD’s heroes, past and present.”

Chief Winstrom and his family – to include many extended family members – have joined the thousands of others who have made Pensacola home in recent years. He thanks the community for the warm welcome and shares this commitment, “We want Pensacola to be the safest city for everyone’s family, and we want everyone to be proud of OUR police department. This team is going to work our hardest to make that happen. Something special is happening here, and my family and I are so honored to be a part of it.”

Welcome, Chief!
