⚾Escambia County Parks and Recreation is excited to kick off the 2026 Gulf Coast Recreation Classic at John R. Jones Ballpark, with games beginning yesterday and running through Saturday, June 27!

The tournament features 52 recreation-based all-star teams from across the area, with youth baseball players ages 7-15 participating.

🚧ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE: The intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and "W" Street will be closed Monday, June 22 and Tuesday, June 23 as additional roadway repairs are completed due to a recent water main break in the area.

🚙There will be no through traffic at the intersection, and detours will be in place. Drivers should use extra caution and follow road crew instructions and posted signs when traveling through the work zone.

🏡 Escambia County was excited to celebrate District 3 resident John Dubose earlier this week, who received a brand-new home through the Escambia County Neighborhood and Human Services Department’s Housing Demo and Replacement Program!

District 3 Commissioner Lumon May presented Mr. Dubose the keys to his new home during a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, joined by county staff and Mr. Dubose's family.

The county's Demo and Replacement Program provided assistance after Mr. Dubose's home had fallen into disrepair over the years, demolishing his old home and giving him a brand-new home where he can make new memories for years to come.

Congratulations to Mr. Dubose on this exciting new chapter! We wish you many happy memories in your new home. ❤

Thank you to everyone who participated in our District 1 Town Hall earlier this week with Commissioner Steve Stroberger at the Bellview Library!

The meeting provided an opportunity for residents to ask questions and learn more about a proposed ECUA transfer station and on Pine Forest Road and a debris pit on Bankhead Drive. Representatives from ECUA and the Bankhead Drive gave presentations with more information and answered questions from attendees about these proposed projects.

We appreciate every engaged citizen who attended, and we'd like to thank the presenters for their willingness to participate and engage with the public.

📢 UPDATE: The bridge on Barrineau Park Road has reopened following a closure due to high water levels of the Perdido River caused by recent rainfall. The bridge was inspected once the water receded and no damages were found.

The section of Barrineau Park Road at Alabama 112 and at County Road 99 has also reopened to traffic. The O.C. Phillips Bridge remains closed until further notice.

🚧ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE: Due to high water levels of the Perdido River caused by recent rainfall, the bridge on Barrineau Park Road is closed until further notice for the safety of the public.

🚗The section of Barrineau Park Road is closed at Alabama 112 and at County Road 99. Traffic will be detoured via Beulah Road.

UPDATE: O.C. Phillips Bridge is also closed until further notice due to high water levels.

☀️🚧The Pensacola Beach Gateway Improvements Project reached a major project milestone today as the second vertical support for the toll gantry was installed safely and smoothly!

District 4 Commissioner Ashlee Hofberger and several local media members visited the site this morning for a progress update on the project, which will include demolition of the current Bob Sikes Toll Plaza sometime after Labor Day.

The new toll gantry will offer enhanced safety features, such as better access for emergency response vehicles, while also helping to reduce congestion at the entrance to Pensacola Beach.

Installation of the overhead structure is scheduled for the early morning hours of Friday, June 19, which will require a temporary southbound road closure for approximately 30 minutes between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m.

⚠️OVERNIGHT ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE: All southbound lanes of Pensacola Beach Boulevard at the Bob Sikes Bridge Toll Plaza will be temporarily closed for approximately 30 minutes between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. Friday, June 19.

🚧The road closure is necessary for the installation of the overhead structure of the new toll gantry as part of the Pensacola Beach Gateway Improvements Project.
