🥳 Great news, Escambia County -- Perdido Kids Park has officially reopened!

District 2 Commissioner Mike Kohler was joined by County Administrator Wes Moreno, Parks and Recreation Director Michael Rhodes, along with representatives from Kiwanis Club of Big Lagoon Pensacola, elected officials, local leaders and community members for a ribbon cutting ceremony earlier this morning, highlighting significant improvements and exciting new recreational amenities in District 2.

Improvements to the park include new durable playground equipment, new ADA accessible amenities, new fencing and more. In addition to retaining the original children’s handprint wall, climbing trees, and airplane rocker toys, the project also kept the existing swings and picnic table pavilion.

Perdido Kids Park is located at 10004 Gulf Beach Highway and open daily from sunrise to sunset.

👏 Thank you to everyone who helped make today possible!

🎉🎖️ Please join us in congratulating Escambia County Corrections Lt. Jonathan Stuckey on his retirement after 25 years of service!

A career with Escambia County Corrections runs in the Stuckey family -- Lt. Stuckey followed in the footsteps of his father and older brother, who served with our Corrections Department before he began his journey. Lt. Stuckey started out as a trainee and quickly learned the ropes, eventually working his way up the ranks to a lieutenant.

Throughout his career, Lt. Stuckey served as a supervisor in many areas of the jail including booking, court services, and security. His knowledge and leadership will be truly missed.

We cannot thank Lt. Stuckey enough for over two decades of dedicated service to his community. He will be greatly missed by his Escambia County Corrections family, and we wish him all the best as he begins his well-earned retirement! 👏

🥳📚 Today was a great day to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the Brownsville Library! We can hardly believe it's been one year since we opened Escambia County's eighth library and first in the historic Brownsville community.

District 3 Commissioner Lumon May was joined by County Administrator Wes Moreno, county and library staff, and community members for today's celebration. Everyone gathered together to enjoy cake, fellowship, and reflection on the importance of libraries and how they can help bring a community together.

Located right in the heart of the Brownsville community, the Brownsville Library provides endless opportunities for reading, children's programs, classes, events, senior activities, and more. Stop by and visit soon!
