Marching with purpose. Honoring those who served.

On 3 September, Raiders from across the group joined fellow service members from the Air Force, Army, Navy, Space Force, Guard, and local ROTC detachments for the Royal Danish Air Force’s Flyver March.

The 144 participants took on a 12.5-mile ruck carrying 25 pounds, putting their endurance and determination to the test while honoring Danish veterans and strengthening the bonds between allied nations.

The Flyver March is a 20-kilometer morale and endurance event established in 2021 at Air Base Karup, Denmark. Inspired by the Danish military’s long-standing DANCON March tradition, the event brings service members together to build camaraderie and recognize the sacrifices of those who served.

The 479th Flying Training Group was honored to welcome Vietnam War veterans to NAS Pensacola on 24 July 2026, where they spent time connecting with the next generation of Combat Systems Officers.

More than a visit, it was an opportunity to give back to those who answered our nation's call and helped shape the legacy our students now carry forward. As these veterans shared stories of service, sacrifice, and leadership, they offered lessons that can't be found in a classroom—reminding today's Airmen that the values of courage, resilience, and selfless service transcend generations.

Today's Combat Systems Officers stand on the shoulders of the navigators who flew missions over Southeast Asia aboard aircraft like the B-52, KC-135, and RC-135. While technology and training continue to evolve, the commitment to defending our nation remains unchanged.

Thank you to these remarkable veterans for your service, your sacrifices, and for inspiring the Raiders who will carry your legacy into the future.
