Did you know that our wildlife sanctuary has been averaging an increase of 500+ patients each year? We couldn't accomplish this without the support of our community.
Each patient costs, on average, $110 for their entire stay with us- from intake to release. Want to help? Even $5 a month makes a huge difference towards the work that we do! Become a recurring donor today!
Miss Amelia, our largest resident Bald Eagle, says thank you for your support, it gives her a delicious dinner of mice and fish! ☺️

Happy mid-June and happy baby season! We're not quite at our mid-year numbers, so you'll be hearing from me again about our patient counts in a couple of weeks. However, we have already surpassed 2,000 patients this year! We are so proud of our staff and grateful to our volunteers for their hard work. Thank you to our corporate sponsors and all of you for supporting us in our mission to give wildlife a second chance. Every new year is an adventure, but we wouldn't have it any other way! 🦅🦆🐦‍⬛🦉🦇🐍🐢🐊🦌🦨🦫🦦🐿️

If you’ve come to visit the sanctuary lately, you may have noticed that Apollo has not been in his usual spot next to Winnie outside. This year, Apollo is turning 44, making him one of the oldest Bald Eagles in the country! (The oldest Bald Eagle on record was 50.)

In Mr. Apollo’s older age, he has begun having some general issues that come with breaking age records. Most impactful on him has been the arthritis and soreness he has experienced on his foot that sustained injury back in the early 80’s.

With his care in mind, we have moved him indoors to give him daily laser treatment on his foot, provide more grooming opportunities that fit his abilities, ensure consistent nutrition, and provide him with more appropriate enrichment.

Since beginning this treatment, he is in noticeably less pain, continuing to eat well, and still enjoying his daily showers. We know many of you have enjoyed visiting Apollo for many years, know that he’s doing well and is still (always) incredibly well-loved.

We have exciting news!!
This baby screech owl has been recovering in our hospital due to injury. When this happens, we have to use our stuffed “parents” to keep them used to other owls and reduce their likelihood of attachment to humans. ✨ BUT ✨ This baby is finishing its antibiotics and will be introduced to its real Screech Owl foster family!!! We’re so excited to unite them this week!!
