Planning a controlled burn? 🔥

Before you burn, make sure you obtain the proper permit and confirm that burning is allowed for the day.

Fremont and Custer County residents can easily sign up for a burn permit online or by scanning the QR code on the flyer below. You can also call in your controlled burn using the toll-free number provided.

*Dispatch will no longer be taking calls to approve controlled burns*

Taking a few minutes to register your burn helps keep our community safe and ensures emergency services are aware of planned fire activity.

Please review the instructions carefully and always follow current burn restrictions and local fire district guidelines.

We are still in Stage 1 Fire Restrictions, however the new online burn permit system will be live in the coming days and we wanted to get this information out to you now.
If you have a current burn permit, you will need to apply for one in the new system.

Tonight at 6:00 PM, a public town hall meeting will be held at Penrose Elementary School regarding the 24 Fire.

This is an opportunity for community members to receive updates. Officials will be present to provide information and answers.

STAGE 1 FIRE BAN NOW IN PLACE

As of 9am today, 10/15/2024 unincorporated areas of Fremont County are now in a STAGE 1 FIRE BAN as requested by the Fremont County Sheriff, Allen Cooper in his capacity as Fire Warden and with the support of the Fremont County BOCC for the health, safety, and welfare of Fremont County citizens and visitors.

Unincorporated areas are those areas not in a fire protection district or BLM and USFS lands that have their own guidelines and are NOT part of the Fremont County STAGE 1 FIRE BAN. Please check with the BLM and USFS OR their websites to view the status of any fire restrictions on their lands.
