Pennsburg Borough is pleased to bring you a special exhibition from the The Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center for the Semiquincentennial celebration of our country’s founding 250 years ago. “Who Lived in the Perkiomen Valley in the 1700’s?” will be on display in the Pennsburg Borough Office until November 20th.

The exhibit, funded by the Institute for Museum and Library Services, explores who was living in our area at the time of the American Revolution. The area was heavily settled by Pennsylvania Germans during the early 1700s as well as colonists from England. While there is some information on their experiences, there is none for people of color and little about those immigrants who were indentured.

Based on a year-long research project, the Heritage Center created this exhibit to share who was here and what kinds of work they did. The research was conducted by the Heritage Center in collaboration with the Historical Society of Montgomery County with funding from the Philadelphia Funder Collaborative for the Semiquincenennial. A full research report and associated databases are available at the two institutions. The exhibit was made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services, Grant IGSM-257792-OMS-25.

The Schwenkfelder Library and Heritage Center at 105 Seminary Street, Pennsburg, is the largest museum in the region sharing stories of the Pennsylvania German experience. It is open free of charge Tuesday through Saturday 10:00am to 4:00pm and Sundays from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. For more information on upcoming programs and exhibits for the 250th, visit Schwenkfelder.org/250 .

🌳 Place branches, hard-covered bark only, clear of root balls and dirt where you normally place your trash.
🌳 Branches can be no larger than 2 inches in diameter.
🌳 Smaller pieces should be placed in a container.
🌳 Stack branches neatly with the butts of branches facing one direction.
🌳 There is a 10 minute time limit for each stop.
🌳 The following will not be picked up: vines, root balls, flowers, weeds, bamboo, leaves, bush trimmings, branches with fruit, dried flower stems, grass clippings.

🍁 Leaves may be bagged and placed in your trash tote or they can composted or mulched. Mulching will not only save you time and labor, but it can also reduce waste, enriche your soil, and reduce clogged storm drains.
