Precipitation will develop across the area tonight and linger into Monday night. Some lower elevation locations may see a period of rain or a rain snow mix, before transitioning to all snow Sunday morning (mountain locations should stay primarily snow). The greatest impacts are expected Sunday night into Monday morning, possibly affecting the Monday morning commute.

If you receive unsolicited packets of seeds in the mail, DO NOT open them! Instead, report it to the WVDA (304-558-3200). The packets are part of a "brushing scam" originating from China and a persistent threat to biosecurity here in the U.S. When in doubt, give us a call!

WEATHER FORECAST FEB 5TH: From the US National Weather Service Charleston WV,
Short Term:
Mostly dry and colder today.
Another clipper will push through the region on Friday.
Mix of rain/snow is expected across the lowlands during the day.
Mostly snow is expected across the mountains and northern lowlands.
A change over to all snow is then expected Friday night with arctic air.
The lowlands will generally see 1 to 3 inches of snow.
4 to 8 inches in the West Virginia mountains.
A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for Friday and Friday night for the mountains.
Wind Advisories may be need for the higher elevations Friday night into Saturday.

Outlook:
The highest elevations of the mountains may need cold weather headlines this weekend.
A significant warm up is expected next week.
Most locations will get well above freezing with 50s expected.

OUTLOOK FOR FEB 4th AND WEEKEND: From the US National Weather Service Charleston WV,
Short Term:
Weak clipper system moves east today causing snow showers to taper off. Another disturbance moves through today causing more chances for precipitation.
Mostly across southern and eastern West Virginia and southwestern Virginia.
Any additional snowfall accumulations will be light, generally under an inch.
Much colder temperatures tonight.

Outlook:
Mostly dry Thursday and colder.
A cold front will push through the region on Friday.
Mixed precipitation is expected across the area during the day.
A change over to all snow is then expected Friday night with arctic air.
Wind Advisories may be need for the higher elevations Friday night into Saturday.
The highest elevations of the mountains may need cold weather headlines this weekend.
A significant warming trend can be expected next week.

EXTREME COLD for 2 WV counties tomorrow night: From the US National Weather Service Charleston WV, there is an extreme cold watch for the higher terrain of SE Randolph and NW Pocahontas counties for Saturday evening through Sunday.

Wind chills as cold as -27 will be possible during this time.

FORECAST FOR THE WEEKEND: From the US National Weather Service Charleston WV, Light snow accumulations may be possible as a disturbance prompts additional snow showers to develop later today into tonight.
Sub-freezing temperatures and very cold wind chills continue through the week, with additional cold weather headlines likely to be needed at times.
A developing coastal system could provide an opportunity for some snow in eastern portions of the area Friday into the weekend.
The bulk of precipitation from this system is projected to remain well to the southeast (in Virginia and the Carolinas)
The current probability of 2" or more of snow is less than 50% for southeast WV and southwest VA, with decreasing potential for accumulations to the north and west.
