Camden County Technical Schools is pleased to announce that we have been awarded the "Artificial Intelligence Technology in CTE Pathways" grant in the amount of $25,000 from the New Jersey Department of Education. This competitive grant will allow us to develop high-quality, innovative AI applications within our CTE programs.
This grant will help us develop an open, project-based curriculum that integrates AI technology into Computer Science, as well as other programs beginning with Agricultural Science and Environmental Studies.
Rowan University College of Science and Mathematics and School of Earth and Environment is partnering with CCTS to explore how artificial intelligence can be integrated into career and technical education. Students will utilize machine vision to train AI models for tasks such as real-time aquaponic crop monitoring, yield prediction, and automated resource management. Computer Science students will develop these models, which will use data collected from various sensors and tools to optimize crop yield.
As the initiative develops, Rowan faculty, staff, and students will contribute expertise in areas such as AI, data science, computer science, and applied research.
This initiative also includes professional development to ensure our curriculum meets industry standards and prepares students for high-wage careers and post-secondary success.
At CCTS, we would like to thank Ms. Karen Gill and Ms. Jessica Tosti, Directors of Teaching and Learning, and Mr. Sean Kendall, STEM supervisor, for their vision and support of this grant, Ms. Kim Bartholomew, Environmental Studies teacher, and Ms. Catherine Markowitz, Agricultural Science teacher, for their collaboration, and Mr. Jonathan Schwehm, Computer Science teacher, for his extensive contributions to the design and development of this plan, leveraging his expertise to advance our computer science program.
