Rancho Adobe Firefighters had a great time partnering with today! Our members spent the evening teaching the Cotati PD Explorers an overview of EMS skills and hands-on CPR.

These young explorers showed awesome enthusiasm and a real dedication to learning the basics of emergency response. Itโ€™s always an honor to help prepare the next generation of public safety professionals.

Honoring Steve Phillips
April 11, 1944 โ€“ November 26, 2025
The Rancho Adobe Fire District sadly announces the unexpected passing of Steve Phillips. While his service time as Firefighter / Engineer was short his continued support over many decades has been invaluable. Steveโ€™s technical expertise in mechanical and electrical systems proved invaluable to the fleet and facilities team, enabling solutions to complex and unexpected challenges. He consistently responded to our calls at any hour, supporting equipment repairs and maintaining station generators and providing some opinion. Recognized for his knowledge and service to support the District, Steve received the 2023 Burt Chadwick Volunteer of the Year Award.

He will be missed by all that knew him and the stories will carry on.

Rest Easy, Steve. We will have to figure it out from here.

Family will be hosting a celebration of life

Join the City of Petaluma and other regional planning partners for a meeting to review the draft 2026 Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan. This plan is the result of a year-long planning process involving the county, all municipalities, and 12 special districts. The Hazard Mitigation Plan is updated on a five-year cycle and is required to maintain eligibility for FEMA Hazard Mitigation Assistance grants. The plan analyzes the jurisdictionโ€™s risk from natural hazards, identifies mitigation capabilities, and outlines a strategy that reduces risk from natural hazards. Spanish interpretation will be provided.

Earlier today, Rancho Adobe Firefighters responded to a call for service involving a horse in distress that had been stuck in the mud since yesterday afternoon. Crews worked carefully and safely to extricate the horse, who was successfully freed thanks to a coordinated team effort.

A big thank you to our neighboring agencies who responded and assisted with the operation โ€” your support and teamwork are always appreciated!
