25 YEARS.

It still doesn’t seem possible.

On September 11, 2001, 343 firefighters went to work just like they had countless times before. They put on their gear, answered the call, and ran toward a danger they could never have imagined.
They were brothers. They were sons and daughters. They were husbands and wives. They were fathers and mothers. They were friends, coworkers, and members of fire departments just like ours.

They went in to save others.

343 never came home.

As firefighters, we understand the oath. We understand the sacrifice. We understand what it means to leave your family, put on your gear, and answer the call—not knowing what awaits you on the other side of that door.

Twenty-five years later, we honor every one of them.

We honor the 343 firefighters.
We honor the 23 NYPD officers.
We honor the 37 Port Authority officers.
We honor the 8 EMTs and paramedics.
And we remember every innocent life stolen that day.

We also remember the countless heroes who became sick in the years that followed because they refused to stop searching, rescuing, recovering, and helping.
Their sacrifice will never be forgotten. Their names will never be forgotten. Their courage will never be forgotten.

From one fire family to another…
We remember our brothers and sisters.
We honor their sacrifice.
We carry their memory.
And we will NEVER forget. 🇺🇸🧑‍🚒

September 11, 2001 — September 11, 2026
25 years later.
Still remembered.
Still honored.
Still NEVER forgotten.
#343 🇺🇸

As many of you know, our Lieutenant, Dan Matychak, is courageously battling Squamous Cell Carcinoma. His benefit is tomorrow, and we want to show him just how much love and support surrounds him. ❤️‍🩹

Our department, along with 2 Broke Mom’s in Pulaski, has created a special T-shirt in honor of Dan. Our department will proudly be wearing these shirts tomorrow at his benefit. 🚒❤️

The shirts are $25 each, and thanks to the incredible generosity of Jen from 2 Broke Mom’s, $7 from every shirt sold will be donated directly back to Dan.

The link below is where you can order your shirt, and there is a picture so you can see what they look like.

Our Lieutenant, Dan Matychak, has been a dedicated member of our department for nearly five years. He was recently diagnosed with Stage 2 Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the tongue. Dan is currently receiving treatment in both Syracuse and Rochester. He is scheduled to begin chemotherapy on July 27, and today he meets with his surgeon to discuss the timeline for his upcoming surgery.

To help ease the financial burden of medical expenses, a Spaghetti Dinner Benefit will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Elks Lodge, 57 Pierce Drive, Fulton, NY.

Presale tickets are available:

Dan: (315) 560-3087
Erica: (315) 743-6402

There will also be raffles, a 50/50 drawing, baked goods, a door prize, and a lottery board. Every dollar raised will go directly toward helping Dan and his family with medical expenses during this difficult time.

Please join us in coming together as a community to support one of our own as he fights this battle. If you're unable to attend, simply sharing this post would mean so much and help spread the word.

Together, we can make a difference. ❤️
