Tonight at 7 PM, the Council is taking up another facet of the complex issue of homelessness: the proposed year-round shelter and the accompanying emergency declaration.

To help everyone get on the same page before the meeting, the City has shared some answers to the most common questions we are hearing from the community.

We'll hear more from Staff, Neighbor 2 Neighbor and the community at tonight's meeting. I really hope to see you at City Hall or online tonight!

IT’S THAT TIME ONCE AGAIN — BACK TO SCHOOL!!

We hope everyone had a great summer creating fun memories with family and friends! Now it’s time to head back to the classroom and start making new memories with new teachers, old friends, and new friends!

School is back in session Thursday, August 27th!

As our students head back to school, we’re asking everyone to slow down and pay a little extra attention -
Obey school zone speed limits
Watch for students at crosswalks and bus stops
Be alert for school buses and flashing lights
Put the phone down and stay focused on the road
Give yourself a few extra minutes during drop-off and pick-up times

Please slow down, stay alert, and help us make sure every student gets to school and back home safely.

A town hall is happening here in town on Monday!

In a recent post I shared how in this fiscal year started in July, we’ve allocated over $5 million for road repairs.

Many of these are happening next summer, in addition to the improvements made this summer.

In the meantime, please report any issues you see by using this form or calling them in to City Hall.

Did you know you can report issues such as potholes, burned out street lights, and overgrown trees directly to the City of Pendleton at https://www.pendletonor.gov/publicworks/page/report-issue ?

While Facebook posts (especially humorous ones) may garner attention, this is a more effective way to reach our crews directly with the information they need to investigate.

We're so lucky to have a great cultural exchange with the students of Pendleton and the students of Minamisoma!

Mayor McKennon McDonald, City Manager Robb Corbett and City Council members Linda Neuman and Ellie McBride introduced students from Minamisoma, Japan, to City Hall today.
