Today marks the 82nd anniversary of the Normandy landings during World War II, otherwise recognized as D-Day. D-Day marked the beginning of the final push across Europe to defeat Axis forces during World War II, with more than 10,000 Allied soldiers killed or wounded in that battle alone.

I wish to extend a special heartfelt thank you to the men and women who served that day, and our gratitude to those who did not come home. Your legacy is not forgotten.

I recently had the opportunity to tour the newly restored cupola at Pen Argyl High School, a historic feature of the campus that has stood since 1937 and long served as a symbol of the school’s tradition and identity.

The restoration project was completed by a three-person crew and returned the cupola to its former condition, preserving an important landmark for the school community.

I was proud to have helped secure funding through the Public School Facility Improvement Grant program to support this work, which also included broader roof and HVAC improvements at Pen Argyl High School.

Often referred to as a “stalwart sentinel,” the cupola remains a recognizable focal point of the campus and a meaningful connection between generations of students, faculty and alumni.

As a proud graduate of Pen Argyl High School, it was an honor to see this historic structure preserved for years to come and to celebrate the collaboration that made its restoration possible.

Pen Argyl Borough celebrated Founders Day with a ribbon cutting at Weona Park marking the opening of the park’s new playground expansion.

The project represents a significant upgrade to a central community space, enhancing accessibility and creating a more engaging area for children and families to enjoy for years to come.

During the ceremony, I presented a House citation recognizing the completion of the project and the collaboration that made it possible. Residents, local officials and community leaders gathered to mark the occasion and take part in the celebration.

The ribbon cutting was held as part of a broader slate of Founders Day activities, including food, entertainment and family-friendly events throughout the park. Pen Argyl Borough is commended for its continued investment in public spaces that strengthen community life.

Students, veterans, educators and community members gathered at Pen Argyl High School for a heartfelt Memorial Day Celebration that paid tribute to the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation.

I was grateful to attend this meaningful program, organized by the Knights' Order and Mr. Mutton's Character Education class. Through remarks from active and retired military members, a ceremonial flag folding and presentation, and performances by the PAHS Band and Chorus, attendees were reminded of the sacrifices made to protect the freedoms we enjoy every day.

Events like this help ensure that the true meaning of Memorial Day is not forgotten and that future generations understand the cost of preserving our liberty.

Thank you to the students, faculty and all those involved in organizing this special tribute to our nation's fallen heroes.

The Nazareth Area Service Unit recently held its annual Girl Scout Older Girl Award Ceremony at St. John’s UCC Church, where local Scouts were recognized for earning Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards, along with graduating Ambassadors who have dedicated years to scouting and community service.

I was honored to join families and community leaders to help recognize these achievements and to present a Pennsylvania House citation to Ellodie Thomas-Ann, a resident of the 138th Legislative District, in recognition of her achievement of the Girl Scouts Gold Award, the highest honor in Girl Scouting.

The Gold Award reflects exceptional leadership, initiative and a sustained commitment to service. Projects at this level are designed to create lasting impact in the community, and Ellodie’s accomplishment is a strong example of that standard.

Congratulations to Ellodie and all of the Girl Scouts recognized for their hard work, leadership and dedication to service!

America’s 250th anniversary will place a national spotlight on communities with stories worth telling, and the Lehigh Valley is one of them.

I was proud to join local and state leaders in Easton for an announcement highlighting $1 million in support for Lehigh Valley250 initiatives through the state’s Marketing to Attract Tourists program in partnership with the Pennsylvania Tourism Office.

This investment will help expand events, strengthen partnerships and showcase the history, culture and community spirit that make the Lehigh Valley such a special place to live and visit.

The funding announcement also reflected strong bipartisan cooperation across the Lehigh Valley delegation. I was pleased to jointly present the House funding alongside Rep. Bob Freeman as legislators from both parties came together to support this important regional initiative.

During the event, I spoke about the unique character of our region and the sense of energy you feel throughout the Lehigh Valley. From historic downtowns and neighborhood businesses to cultural institutions, community traditions and welcoming public spaces, this is a region where history is not simply preserved, it is still being lived every day.

As someone who grew up in Wind Gap, graduated from Moravian College and now lives in Moore Township with my husband, Dan, I am especially proud to help support initiatives that celebrate the people and communities that continue to shape the Lehigh Valley.

As we prepare to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary, I look forward to seeing the Lehigh Valley continue to share its story with visitors from across the country and around the world.

Over the weekend, I was pleased to join Refiner's Fire Ministry in Portland for a ribbon cutting ceremony commemorating 20 years of ministry in the community.

Refiner’s Fire Ministry began meeting in the Portland Municipal Gym in 2006 and later established a permanent home in 2012 with the purchase of the former Portland Methodist Church building. For two decades, the church has remained dedicated to teaching and preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ while serving the Portland community with faith and compassion.

I was pleased to present a citation recognizing Refiner’s Fire Ministry for their 20 years of service and congratulating them on this meaningful milestone.

When the ceremony concluded, attendees gathered in the church basement for food and fellowship. Due to inclement weather, the celebration picnic, face painting, and softball game scheduled for the Portland Ball Field have been postponed until June.

On Thursday, I attended the Brick Breaking Ceremony hosted by ArtsQuest at SteelStacks in Bethlehem, marking the next phase in the transformation of the historic Bethlehem Steel Turn and Grind Shop into a new community venue.

The project, in partnership with Lehigh Valley Health Network, part of Jefferson Health, represents a meaningful investment in the continued revitalization of South Bethlehem. Once complete, the 26,000-square-foot space will expand opportunities for arts programming, exhibits, festivals, and community events while preserving key historic elements of the original structure.

This milestone reflects strong collaboration between community partners and a shared commitment to honoring Bethlehem’s industrial heritage while building for its future. I look forward to seeing this important project continue to take shape.

On Monday, I joined the American Legion Mt. Bethel–Portland Memorial Post No. 216 for its annual Memorial Day service, where our community gathered to honor the men and women from our region who gave their lives in service to our nation.

The ceremony brought together veterans, Scouts, community members, and local leaders for a morning of remembrance, featuring patriotic music, readings, wreath presentations, and a moment of silence in honor of the fallen. It was a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices made to preserve the freedoms we enjoy today.

I appreciated the opportunity to offer remarks during the service and to stand with our community in honoring those who gave their lives in service to our country.

On Memorial Day, I was honored to attend the American Legion Post 502 Memorial Day service at Fairview Cemetery in Pen Argyl, where our community gathered to remember and pay tribute to the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

The ceremony featured patriotic music, readings, and participation from veterans, Scouts, and community members as we reflected on the meaning of Memorial Day and the lives of those we honor. These moments of remembrance serve as an important reminder of the freedom we enjoy today and the responsibility we share to preserve it for future generations.

I appreciated the opportunity to offer remarks during the service and to stand alongside our community in recognizing the courage and sacrifice of our fallen heroes.
