Shelby Women's League

Shelby Women's League Shelby Women's League, a networking group for women who live or work in Shelby County, Alabama.

We are dedicated to making Shelby County a great place for women to live and work. Our quarterly service projects are directed specifically to our community. Shelby Women’s League was started in 2011 when a group of like-minded women wanted to give back to the women and children of Shelby County. There are many needs right here in our neighborhoods, yet finding those needs and someone to coordinat

e the action required is a challenge for every community. Our motto is “Service Minded-Connection Driven.” Our group consists of executives, business owners, attorneys, and entrepreneurs. Membership is open to anyone who works or lives in Shelby County and wants to contribute to making a difference right here in Shelby County. There are no dues, yet we do encourage a $5 donation at each meeting, where the “winner” donates the money to the charity of their choice. We have given back thousands of dollars to local individuals and organizations, a much appreciated “surprise” when received. Our desire is to be a source of assistance when other agencies have been notified yet things are still left to do. A house burns down and clothes are needed, a family needs a few meals to get through a rough time, a ramp needs to be built for wheelchair access, etc. SWL may be the answer to situations where something is needed yet no one knows where to turn. We are not a major source for fund raising, nor do we have a non-profit status. We are a group of women who are dedicated to using our connections, experience, and work ethic to get things done. We have a social media presence and like the old saying, “If you want something done, tell a women.”

Please help if you can!

Thank you for all the emails asking how you can help! ❤️At the moment during this crazy COVID time, there are some items that are difficult to order in bulk. Pop top meals are one of them. You can ship them directly to us (VFS 2834 Pelham Parkway Pelham, Al. 35124), drop items off, OR you can donate online: www.vfsdads.com. No matter what happens in this season, we continue to feed kids and families in need. We are very grateful for everyone's support!

Through these last few months, VFS has worked tirelessly to help the children in our area with basic needs, all the while getting ready for the upcoming school year. They are truly amazing!

Each year, the Vineyard Family Services / Backpack Buddies program hosts a "Me & Mommy" event at the Birmingham Women's Work Release Center -- the intention is to allow mothers and grandmothers who are incarcerated to spend a day visiting with their children and grandchildren at the center. Well, thanks to COVID-19, this event has been cancelled; however, there is still a need! The ladies aren't allowed to go to work during this time for the most part.

The goal is 260 bags.

Items still needed include:
* non-spiral pretty journals
* colored gel pens (with transparent barrels)
* fragrant lotions

THANK YOU Lisa Phillips for contributing 260 eye shadows and others who have contributed $$$. You don't have to purchase 260 of the items / every donation is appreciated.

You can take pre-packed bags OR loose items to Stephanie Grissom at the Backpack Buddies location in Pelham. Check with her on a good drop-off time first ([email protected]). (There is an outdoor drop-off box too.) If you prefer to make a $$ contribution, use PayPal (www.vfsdads.com) or mail a check to VFS P.O. 2458 Alabaster, AL. 35007.

As the situation with COVID-19 continues to evolve locally and across the country, we will provide regular updates on our page under “VFS”.
