Paving Operations (Tuesday, 6/16 through Friday, 6/26)

Please be advised that roadway improvement work is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, June 16th, and continue through Friday, June 26th, weather permitting.

Prior to paving operations, the contractor (Laura Li Industries) will begin construction and upgrades of ADA-compliant curb ramps at various intersections within the project area. Following completion of the ADA ramp work, the contractor will proceed with roadway milling and paving operations on the following streets:

— First Street (Elderwood to Corona)
— Elderwood Avenue (Colonial to First Street)
— Second Street East (Cliff to Ancon)
— River Avenue (Fifth Street to the dead end)
— Third Avenue (Sixth Street to Lincoln)
— Central Avenue (Maple to Linden)

During construction, temporary parking restrictions will be in effect. Please observe all posted signs and allow additional travel time when entering or exiting these areas.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we complete these important roadway improvements.

If you have any questions, please contact us at (914) 738-2015 or [email protected].

DPW Completes Training on New In-House Sewer Inspection System

June 4, 2026

Department of Public Works personnel recently completed hands-on training on the Village’s newly acquired RapidView MainLite® HD portable sewer inspection system — a milestone that signals a deliberate shift in how Pelham maintains its underground infrastructure.

This new equipment will allow DPW crews to conduct high-definition video inspections of the Village’s sewer and stormwater lines themselves — work previously performed by outside contractors at greater cost and on their schedule. The MainLite HD camera system can be deployed directly from a DPW truck, navigate pipes from 4 inches in diameter and up, and reach distances of 1,000 feet, giving Village of Pelham staff a powerful tool to assess pipe conditions, identify problems, and generate inspection records in the field.

“Every inspection we handle in-house is money we’re not sending to a contractor, and it means we can move on our timeline, not theirs. More than that, it gives us the ability to do routine maintenance the right way — proactively, before small issues become big ones,” said Village Administrator Chris Scelza. “We’ve been working hard to get out from under deferred maintenance, and this is how we stay out.”

The purchase was made possible in large part through the Village’s Fair Share Mitigation Law, adopted in 2019, which requires developers to contribute fees that offset the impact of new construction on Village infrastructure. Approximately 85 percent of the cost of the new system was funded through fees collected under that law — meaning the acquisition came at minimal direct expense to Village taxpayers.

This investment in our Department of Public Works reflects the Village Board’s commitment to building in-house capacity, leveraging outside funding sources to save taxpayers money, and ensuring that Pelham’s infrastructure remains in sound condition for residents now and in the future.

Behind every Memorial Day tribute is a real person: someone's child, parent, sibling, or friend who chose to serve and never came home. As we gather with family and friends today, let's take a moment to remember why we can—because of those who gave everything for our freedom. 🇺🇸💙

🦋Today is the International Day for Biological Diversity — a reminder that protecting biodiversity starts right here at home.

One small but meaningful example is the Village of Pelham NY’s new Butterfly Garden at Woodland Park, created through a partnership with the Junior League of Pelham and with the collaboration of the VoP Sustainability Advisory Board / Climate Smart Communities Task Force, Ecopel, local Scouts, and community volunteers.

By planting native species and removing invasive plants, this garden helps provide critical habitat for butterflies and other pollinators while supporting healthier soil, cleaner waterways, and a more climate-resilient Pelham. 🌱

If you haven’t visited yet, take a walk through Woodland Park and see how small local actions can help build a healthier, more biodiverse community for everyone. 💚
