The Pelham Police Department is responsible for policing a small, pleasant town with residences along 21 miles of road and is perched on the ridge that divides the Connecticut River's Pioneer Valley from Quabbin Reservoir and central Massachusetts. Settled in 1739 by Scottish Immigrants, Pelham was incorporated as a town in 1743. Its most famous citizen was Capt. Daniel Shays, who led a year-long

rebellion against the courts and state officials who were seizing farms for payment of debts of families made poor after the Revolution. Pelham's Old Meeting House, built in 1743, is the oldest town hall in continuous use in the nation and is still the site of the Fall Town Meeting, often referred to as the purest form of democracy practiced widely in New England communities. A tradition of pride and independence are exemplified even today.

Meet Sydney!!

The Pelham Police Department is proud to announce that after applying, we have been selected to participate in the MassDOT Municipal Speed Feedback Signage Program. We will be able to monitor speed data amongst other statistical data. Over a period of time you will see Sydney throughout town. Our goal is to capture data and use this data to better assist in troubled areas where speed is a problem. Please be patient we will get to your road.

Heads up for Sat evening: Isolated to scattered strong to severe storms are possible across the region, primarily between 6 PM and 10 PM. A Level 2 "Slight Risk" is in place for portions of interior southern New England, while a Level 1 "Marginal Risk" covers the coast. The main threats are damaging winds and frequent lightning. Stay weather-aware and keep an eye on the radar if you have outdoor plans!

Today at approximately 1:45pm the Pelham Police Department was dispatched to a serious motor vehicle crash involving a rollover and entrapment. This occurred in the area of Amherst Rd and (Upper) N. Valley Rd. which required Amherst Rd to be closed for about 3 hours. Two occupants in the vehicle were transported to the hospital, one via Life Flight. Both are expected to make a full recovery. The crash is currently being investigated by Pelham Police Department and Mass State Police. We would like to thank Shutesbury PD, Pelham Fire Department, Amherst Fire Department and Belchertown Fire Department for there quick response and assistance in extracting the occupants while rendering medical aid.

UPDATE: Amherst Rd is now open.

Amherst Rd is currently closed from Daniel Shays Hwy (Rt 202) to Enfield Rd to a serious motor vehicle crash. Road has been closed since 2pm and will be opened as soon as possible. Sorry for any inconvenience.

In partnership with the OPS Network, and part of the “National Public Safety Alliance for Individuals with Disabilities” (NPS-AID), the Pelham Police Department is excited to launch the first Massachusetts Agency Chapter of the NPS-AID program.

The Pelham Police Department AID program has been implemented to ensure that all residents who have disabilities receive the help and support they need during the time of an emergency, or during an interaction with law enforcement, such as a traffic stop.
