FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – PEKIN DEATH

On Tuesday, March 10, 2026, the Tazewell County Coroner’s Office was contacted to respond to an address in Pekin for a deceased female. Authorities were alerted at 6:38 p.m. by a neighbor.

The 82-year old female was pronounced deceased at the scene by Coroner Charles Hanley. She encountered fatal injuries after an accident involving her vehicle in her driveway.

An autopsy will be held today (Wednesday). Further information will be released at a later time.

This case remains under investigation by the Pekin Police Department and Tazewell County Coroner’s Office.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – CREVE COEUR DEATH

On Tuesday, March 10, 2026, the Tazewell County Coroner’s Office was contacted to respond to an address in Creve Coeur for a deceased individual. Authorities were alerted at 2:13 a.m.

An autopsy will be held today (Wednesday). Further information will be released at a later time by Coroner Charles Hanley.

This case remains under investigation by the Illinois State Police and Tazewell County Coroner’s Office.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – RURAL EAST PEORIA FIRE FATALITY

On Monday, March 9, 2026, the Tazewell County Coroner’s Office was contacted to respond to the 100 block of Spring Creek Terrace in rural East Peoria for a fatality following a residential fire. Authorities were alerted at 5:26 a.m. of the fire.

Pronounced deceased at the scene was 65-year old Mark Evans by Coroner Charles Hanley.

An autopsy was held Monday and preliminary autopsy findings show the death was attributed to the inhalation of smoke and soot due to the residential fire. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

This case remains under investigation by the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal, Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office and Tazewell County Coroner’s Office. Assisting at the fire scene were Spring Bay, Germantown Hills, and Washington Fire Departments. The address above is in Tazewell County and the Spring Bay Fire Protection District.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ~ RURAL TAZEWELL COUNTY FATALITY

On Tuesday, February 24, 2026, the Tazewell County Coroner’s Office was contacted to respond to the 12000 block of Bluff Road (between Sky Ranch and Helmig Roads) in rural Manito for a single vehicle collision with a fatality. Authorities were alerted at 9:27 p.m.

Pronounced deceased at the scene was 35-year old Christopher Murphy of rural Manito by Tazewell County Coroner Charles Hanley. Mr. Murphy was the sole occupant of his pick-up truck.

An autopsy was held today (Friday) and results are pending. A positive identification was made.

This case is under investigation by the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office and the Tazewell County Coroner’s Office. Assisting at the scene was the Forman Fire Department and Forman Ambulance.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ~ UPDATE WASHINGTON PEDESTRIAN FATALITY

Preliminary autopsy findings of a pedestrian fatality from the 2300 block of Washington Road (between Meadow Lane and Briargate Road) in Washington have been completed.

Pronounced deceased at the scene on Friday, January 16, 2026 was 63-year old Laurie Boice of Washington by Tazewell County Coroner Charles Hanley. Authorities were alerted at 5:50 p.m.

An autopsy was held today (Monday) and preliminary findings show the cause of death was from multiple blunt force injuries sustained as a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle.

This case remains under investigation by the East Peoria Police Department, Illinois State Police, and the Tazewell County Coroner’s Office. The above Washington address is in the East Peoria corporate limits.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ~ WASHINGTON PEDESTRIAN FATALITY

On Friday, January 16, 2026, the Tazewell County Coroner’s Office was contacted to respond to the 2300 block of Washington Road (between Meadow Lane and Briargate Road) in Washington for a pedestrian fatality. The pedestrian was struck by a pickup truck pulling a trailer. Authorities were alerted at 5:50 p.m.

A 63-year old female Washington resident was pronounced deceased at the scene by Tazewell County Coroner Charles Hanley. The name of the deceased individual will be released Monday afternoon.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday morning.

This case is under investigation by the East Peoria Police Department, Illinois State Police, and the Tazewell County Coroner’s Office. Assisting at the scene were the East Peoria Fire Department, Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office, and Washington Police Department.

Preliminary autopsy findings of a fatality from a single-vehicle crash in the 31000 block of Illinois Route 9 (between Davis Lane and Coil Road) in rural Mackinaw have been completed.

Pronounced deceased at the scene on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, was 62-year old John Stone of Mackinaw by Tazewell County Coroner Charles Hanley. Authorities were alerted at 4:31 a.m.

An autopsy was held Friday and preliminary findings show the cause of death was from multiple blunt force injuries.

This case remains under investigation by the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office and the Tazewell County Coroner’s Office.

On Wednesday, December 24, 2025, the Tazewell County Coroner’s Office was contacted to respond to the 31000 block of Illinois Route 9 (between Davis Lane and Coil Road) in rural Mackinaw for a single vehicle crash involving a fatality. Authorities were alerted at 4:31 a.m.

A 62-year old Mackinaw resident was pronounced deceased at the scene by Tazewell County Coroner Charles Hanley. The name of the deceased individual is being withheld until proper notifications have been made.

An autopsy is scheduled for Friday morning.

This case is under investigation by the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office and the Tazewell County Coroner’s Office. Assisting at the scene were the Mackinaw Fire Department, Danvers Fire Department and Tazewell Towing.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

On Thursday, December 18, 2025, the Tazewell County Coroner’s Office was contacted to respond to an area along Shiloh Road in rural Hopedale for a deceased individual.

Pronounced deceased at the scene at 1:30 p.m. today (Thursday) was 59 year-old male Eric Burlingame of rural Hopedale. No foul play is suspected.

Mr. Burlingame was found in an area that was previously covered with large snow drifts from the recent snowfall. He was reported missing December 14, 2025.

An autopsy is scheduled for Friday afternoon.

This case is under investigation by the Illinois State Police, the Tazewell County Sheriff's Office, and the Tazewell County Coroner’s Office.

On Saturday, September 13, 2025, the Tazewell County Coroner’s Office was contacted to respond to the intersection of South 14th Street and Veterans Drive in Pekin for a multi-vehicle collision involving a fatality. Authorities were alerted at 7:52 a.m. of the collision

Pronounced deceased at the scene was 16-year-old female Charlotte Bumbalough of Marquette Heights.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

This case is under investigation by the Illinois State Police and the Tazewell County Coroner’s Office.

On Saturday, September 13, 2025, the Tazewell County Coroner’s Office was contacted to respond to the intersection of South 14th Street and Veterans Drive in Pekin for a multi-vehicle collision involving a fatality. Authorities were alerted at 7:52 a.m. of the collision.

A Tazewell County resident was pronounced deceased at the scene at 9:27 a.m. Saturday, September 13, 2025 by Tazewell County Coroner Charles Hanley.

The deceased individual's name is being withheld until proper notifications have been made. The name will be released Sunday afternoon and an autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

This case is under investigation by the Illinois State Police and the Tazewell County Coroner’s Office.

Assisting at the scene were the Pekin Police Department, Pekin Fire Department, Advanced Medical Transport, and Illinois Department of Transportation.
