The Peggs Fire Department continues to battle wildfires across our district.

A fire occurred last night between Hwy 82C and E. 645 Rd. Firefighters, along with an Oklahoma Forestry Services crew, worked into the early morning hours to contain the fire.

Reminder: The burn ban remains in effect. Please avoid any outdoor burning and report any signs of smoke or fire immediately.

Update-March 2, 2026: The burn ban issued for Cherokee County has been lifted and is no longer in effect.

Effective today, a burn ban has been issued for Cherokee County and will remain in effect for 14 days.

*Training Day* Yesterday, the Peggs Fire Department conducted auto extrication training to sharpen skills and enhance on-scene efficiency. Firefighters worked through multiple scenarios using a variety of specialized tools in extrication techniques. Here are a few photos from the training session.

Peggs Fire Department would like to recognize two of our firefighters.

Cale Fine and Zach Bailey are full-time career firefighters with the Siloam Springs Fire Department (SSFD). Cale is a Lieutenant/Paramedic and Zach is a Firefighter/Paramedic. Both were recently recognized at the SSFD annual awards banquet. Cale’s fire company received Company of the Year award and Zach received Paramedic of the Year award.

In addition to working for SSFD, both serve as volunteer firefighters on our department. We greatly appreciate the professional service and experience each of them brings to our department and community. Great job guys!

Last night, the Peggs Fire Department hosted its annual Christmas dinner. Three firefighters were recognized for their years of service. We appreciate all the firefighters and their dedication to our community.

The Peggs Fire Department is proud to announce the addition of two trucks to our fleet. We recently added a 2024 Ford F350 and a 2006 Ford F350. The trucks have already responded to fire calls in the last couple weeks.
