The City of Pearson, Georgia The idea of the town was initiated by the railroad when track were laid in 1870 and 1871.

The City of Pearson, named for Benajah Pearson (1811 - 1885) a wealthy and influential citizen of Coffee County who also served in the Indian War of 1838, was incorporated on December 27, 1890, in what was then Coffee County. Pearson became Atkinson's County seat in 1918, one year after the county was formed.

The Pearson Senior Center enjoyed a field trip to Waycross to County Line Farms last week. They enjoyed a hay ride, petting zoo and many other fun activities. Today at the Pearson Senior Center we enjoyed a visit from Mrs. Elaine Tiamfook, RN with South Central Primary Care. She did a presentation on breast cancer and gave us lots of great information. We are so thankful that this storm is over! We have another chance to get better prepared!!

Due to the storm there will be no penalty for the water bill until after September 20th.

We will have OPENHOUSE for our New Senior Building! @ 10am.

Hurricane Irma Update:
Citizens, it is very important that all trash cans are removed from street or curb sides. For the safety of our first responders and other citizens, trash cans should be pulled away from the streets and placed close to your homes. Please adhere to this update and be safe and be blessed.

Atkinson County High School Gym will be opened at 5:00 PM today as a temporary shelter. Please bring your medications, pillows, blankets, sleeping bags, chairs and other necessary items that you may need. Please pay attention for further updates on the this page and Pearson Mayor's page.
