Dear friends and neighbors,
It is with a mixture of pride, gratitude, and a touch of wistfulness that I share my decision not to seek reelection for Frio County Clerk in the upcoming elections.
Serving our community has been one of the greatest honors of my life. From the moment I took office in 2019, I’ve been inspired daily by the dedication, resilience, and heart of our residents. Together, we’ve achieved some remarkable things—whether it was digitizing over a million documents of Frio County’s history and land records, to leading the enhancement of organizational technology, accessibility, and operational efficiency by strategically leveraging modern innovations in technology. These improvements streamlined workflows, expanded digital access for diverse users, and elevated overall performance not only for my office, but the county.
I’m deeply thankful to each person who reached out over the years with ideas, lent a helping hand, or showed up at a meeting, event, or volunteer effort. Your trust, insight, and support kept me focused and energized. I also want to express my sincere appreciation to my fellow elected officials and staff members both present and past. Working alongside you has been both a privilege and a joy.
This decision wasn’t made lightly. After much reflection and many conversations with family and friends, I believe it’s time to pass the torch and make room for fresh energy and new perspectives. While I’m stepping back from candidacy, I remain committed to our community and look forward to supporting the transition in any way I can.
Thank you—from the bottom of my heart—for allowing me to serve. I will always cherish the relationships, lessons, and memories we’ve built together. Though this chapter is closing, my hopes for our community remain as bright as ever.
With deep gratitude and continued optimism,
-Aaron Tomas Ibarra
