Congratulations to Pearland Police Academy Cadet Class 7! 🎉

Last week, every cadet in Cadet Class 7 successfully passed the TCOLE licensing exam on their first attempt, maintaining the academy’s outstanding 100% first-time pass rate.

With just a few weeks remaining before graduation, these cadets will soon transition to their sponsored agencies to continue their careers in law enforcement and begin serving their communities.

Teen Citizens Police Academy – Session One Complete!

Last week, we wrapped up Session One of the Teen Citizens Police Academy. Thank you to all of the students who took time out of their summer to learn more about the Pearland Police Department and the important role law enforcement plays in our community.

From now through July 6, the Pearland Police Department will be participating in the Independence Day Wave, increasing enforcement through coordinated saturation patrols and an overtime STEP grant.

Officers will place an emphasis on identifying and arresting impaired drivers in an effort to reduce alcohol-related traffic crashes during the busy holiday travel period.

If your celebrations includes alcohol, plan ahead for a safe ride home. Never drink and drive. Help us keep our roads safe this holiday season.

On June 19, 1865, General Order No. 3 was read in Galveston, notifying the last enslaved people in Texas of their freedom. This moment laid the groundwork for the Juneteenth celebrations we honor today.

Tragic news shared by Texas DPS, about the death of Texas Highway Patrol Trooper Sergio Romero, who died in the line of duty on June 17 near Childress while attempting a traffic stop on US-287. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and fellow troopers during this difficult time.

It is with great sadness that DPS announces the death of Texas Highway Patrol Trooper Sergio Romero.

Trooper Romero was attempting to conduct a traffic stop along US-287 near Childress, around 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, when a truck-tractor semi-trailer pulled out in front of him, causing his patrol unit to collide with the vehicle. Trooper Romero died on scene.

Trooper Romero answered the call to serve each day with honor and remained steadfast in his commitment to protecting and serving Texans. The DPS family will never forget the ultimate sacrifice he made in service of this state.
