Last week, we celebrated Chief Spires and his 36 years of service to the Pearland Police Department.

Chief Spires began his career as a patrol officer in 1989, was promoted to Corporal in 1993, Sergeant in 1998, and served as Assistant Chief from 1998 until 2017, before becoming Chief of Police on June 1, 2017. His leadership, dedication, and commitment to serving the Pearland community have made a lasting impact on this department and the citizens we proudly serve.

Chief Spires has just a few more weeks leading the department before officially retiring. While we will certainly miss his leadership, we are grateful for the many years he devoted to public service and to the men and women of this department.

Chief, we thank you for your service and wish you nothing but the very best in your retirement!

From their Jail Bail and Taco Fundraisers supporting the Pearland PD Youth Cadets, to our participation in their Ruck March during Police Week, it’s been an honor to work alongside these dedicated men and women. Thank you, 147th Attack Wing, for your service and commitment to our community!

The Pearland Police Department is aware of social media posts and online discussions encouraging a potential “town takeover” gathering within our city.

This event is not authorized. Any violations of the law will be addressed, and arrests made when necessary. We want everyone to clearly understand the possible legal consequences associated with unlawful behavior.

Parents and guardians, we encourage you to be proactive and involved with your youth. The safety of our residents, visitors, businesses, and young people remains our top priority, and we will not tolerate conduct that threatens public safety.

We also encourage our community to report suspicious or unsafe activity to us immediately.

Thank you for helping us keep Pearland safe.

On May 25, 2026, we observe Memorial Day, a solemn day to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation. Today, we pause to remember them, to reflect on their valor, and to express our deepest gratitude. Though they are no longer with us, their legacy lives on in the liberty we enjoy and the values they defended. We salute our fallen heroes and hold their memory in our hearts, forever grateful for the ultimate price they paid for our country.

Please see the below post from the Pearland Office of Emergency Management.

Multiple rounds of thunderstorms are expected through this holiday weekend and into next week. With the threat of heavy rainfall and flooding, remember to steer clear of flooded roads.

Turn Around, Don’t Drown. Just a few inches of moving water can sweep a vehicle away. Stay weather aware, avoid driving through flooded streets, and use caution while traveling throughout the weekend.

Stay safe, Pearland.

Dawson High School Graduation Update #1

🎓The Glenda Dawson High School graduation ceremony remains scheduled to begin on time this evening at Pearland ISD Stadium.

🦅We are excited to celebrate our graduates. Please note that rain alone may not delay the ceremony. Guests may bring umbrellas into the stadium; however, umbrellas should not be used during the ceremony as they may block the view of others. Temporary delays may occur if lightning or other threatening weather develops. In the event of lightning, the ceremony will be paused, and the field will clear for a minimum of 30 minutes in accordance with safety protocols.

⚠️Pearland ISD has established weather safety and shelter procedures should a temporary delay become necessary:

• Graduates will be moved to designated indoor shelter areas and supervised by staff.
• Guests may be asked to temporarily vacate stadium seating until conditions are safe to resume. Designated shelter areas will be available for guests who do not have vehicles on site.
• Official updates will be communicated through the stadium PA system and official Pearland ISD communication channels.

🅿️Parking and traffic are expected to be heavy, so we encourage families to arrive early and allow extra travel time. For parking maps, shuttle information, and additional graduation details, please visit our: https://www.pearlandisd.org/parents/graduation-2026

🎓🦅👏We appreciate your flexibility, patience, and cooperation as we work to safely celebrate the Dawson High School Class of 2026. We look forward to honoring our graduates this evening.
