I just found out about the passing of W5AKE John Allen. He was a past member and president of PARC years ago. He passed away 3/1/26 and funeral was March 13. I make it a point to celebrate the lives of our area hams and PARC members. If you hear of someone passing away that was affiliated with the club, please pass along the information so we can show proper respect by making an announcement and going to the funeral. Thanks to Ann Zimmer, W5TLB for letting us know about his passing.

The Alvin Sun is Brazoria County’s first and oldest newspaper and was established on August 8, 1890 as the Alvin News. In 1892, it became the Alvin Sun and was published weekly for many years.

One is the Clear Lake Amateur Radio Club (CLARC). https://www.clarc.org/licensing-exams/ They offer testing every month typically on the 2nd Saturday of the month. Please contact them ahead of time to make sure they can accommodate the test you are wanting to take. Another group is the Brazos Valley Amateur Radio Club (BVARC). https://bvarc.org/home/ham-radio-license-testing-houston/ They also offer testing once a month, either the 1st or 2nd Saturday of the month. Be prepared to pay a small fee at the time of the test and the FCC requires a fee online as well.

An Amateur Radio License Examination Session is for license examination and/or upgrade purposes. They are held each month, usually on the first or second Saturday of the month. Please check the following link to see the list of upcoming BVARC exams sessions and also for pre-registering for the sessi...
