Adm. Steve Koehler, commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet, recently addressed the Shipbuilders Council of America meeting to discuss a critical strategic reality: our combat readiness at sea relies directly on our industrial strength on land.

As we navigate an era of historic maritime competition in the Indo-Pacific, our partnerships with American shipbuilders, designers, and suppliers are vital. The skilled men and women of our domestic shipyard industrial base are essential to putting the most lethal, survivable, and technologically advanced fleet into the hands of our Sailors.

A strong industrial base is not just about building ships—it is the foundation of a free, open, and secure Indo-Pacific region. 🚢🇺🇸
