🧠It's TBI month!🧠

Did you know there are at least 64 million adults in the United States who report having sustained a traumatic brain injury in their lifetimes? A traumatic brain injury (TBI) is more than just a bump on the head. It is an injury that affects how the brain works and can lead to short- or long-term health problems.

TBIs can occur when a person experiences a bump, blow, or jolt to the head, or from a penetrating injury to the head, such as a gunshot wound. These injuries vary in severity. Some are mild, like a concussion, while others are moderate or severe and may require hospitalization, rehabilitation, and long-term support.

Raising awareness about TBIs and taking steps to prevent injuries can help protect individuals and communities from the serious impacts of brain injury.

** ❤️February is American Heart Month❤️**

The month of February is used to raise awareness about heart disease and prevention. The first American Heart Month was in 1964, when more than half of the deaths in the United States were caused by cardiovascular disease. Today, cardiovascular disease, including heart disease and stroke, remains the leading global cause of death with more than 17.9 million deaths each year, and it is expected to rise to more than 23.6 million by 2030. Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women in the United States, as every year, 1 in 4 deaths are caused by heart disease.
