Yesterday I had the distinct honor to be a pallbearer at Gerry Boutin's funeral. I will say this; next time I am asked, I may decline because my lower back is all pins and needles from the compression of the weight of the casket!
Not to mention there were a few missteps by the party next to me that caused them to step on my foot several times, each time we carried the casket. Then inside the church the person next to me dropped his cane on my foot!
I came away hurting more than emotionally from the loss of my friend.....lol!
But over all, I'm proud to have been chosen to be a pallbearer! He gave me much guidance the past 6 years with Marine Corps League affairs to include my stint as Adjutant for the Essex County Marine Corps League Detachment #127.
Rest in Peace my friend with your beautiful wife Irene....we should all be so fortunate to have loving and devoted people like you in our lives!!
