Well I guess it’s out now!

I’m leaving, after 24 years working for the city, including 10 in Fire Prevention, to work for the Town Administrator in Swampscott.

I’m excited but know I will miss the men & women I’ve come to know & love over these last 10 years.

Pictured here is our very own Dianne Marchese from Peabody Fire Prevention Bureau and sadly she will be leaving us this Friday. We are grateful for the years she has spent here with us and all of her hard work and attention to detail. She will definitely be missed. Best wishes in your new position Dianne. Our loss is Swampscott’s gain.

Thank you

On February 8th, a fire at 60 Ellsworth Road displaced two families and hospitalized two residents, one of whom sadly passed away on Thursday, February 17th. As is always the case in Peabody, our community has responded with an outpouring of love and support for the victims and with financial and material assistance to help meet their immediate needs.

Visiting Fire Department headquarters today, I had the unique opportunity to sit in on the post-incident analysis of the fire. Firefighters reviewed interior and exterior photos of the home’s charred remains. Coupled with the report of the Fire Investigator, the photos help determine the likely path the fire took as it progressed throughout the house. The analysis offers a glimpse of the technical aspects of firefighting which are often overlooked. It is also an extremely valuable training tool.

Following the analysis, I joined Fire Chief Joe Daly, City Councilor Julie Daigle, School Committee member Joe Amico and Gallo Nero’s Aleko Pajaj to provide an outstanding lunch to the firefighters. It is a small token of our appreciation for their outstanding response at 60 Ellsworth Road and for the skill and professionalism they demonstrate every day on our behalf.

This Saturday is Small Business Saturday. Peabody Main Streets is hosting a great event, from 1-5, which culminates in the annual tree lighting & Santa (and the Mrs.) meet & greet.

Check out their event - Holiday Stroll & Tree Lighting - 2021 for a list of events - including (my favorite) the open house at Peabody Fire Prevention Bureau! They have some fun things planned for the kids. I hope you stop by, especially for the 2:00 Jaws of Life demo.

All of the fun is topped off by the annual tree lighting at city hall with Ted Bettencourt and Santa & Mrs. Clause!
